The theme was there, fruit creativity was there, unrelenting spirit even as she fell down was there

And that really shows the difference. Roger and Garp as Xebec's rivals/enemies stood and fought to the bitter end, while Xebec himself entrusted his life and death to those two. It kinda leaves a bitter taste; while Roger and Garp were fighting side by side risking it all to stop Xebec, Whitebeard was busy packing up his stuff and leaving. Like, he literally must have sensed their fierce fighting and Garp and Roger being punched and thrown around and witnessing their fight laying God Valley to debris, and he didn't feel enough pride and responsibility to stand up.
