Consent is always serious. Creating the environment for consent to be learned and agency to be asserted, is not something to laugh at. This is not only for children, but for parent to learn as well. Many parents think they have all the rights on their children. This is something to unlearn or to prevent early. This is exactly the kind of thing that can help doing that.

I thibk it's fine to teach them consent afterwards

It's not only about children and it's not just about consent, but also agency. It's to late to start this later in life. This needs to be something the kid will live in all their life. A baby won't understand until they do, and it arrives quickly. For the same reason, it's also about parents. It's also a way for them to learn and allow them to create place for their children and their own agency.
