Ehh, we know thats also not the case given the Sun and Sun God are different things on the Harley, and also given the Mother Flame resembling something akin to a Sun. There is a demon holding a Sun on the drawings too.

I dont think any of this is metaphorical, there are at least 4-6 beings on those drawings that can definitely coincide with the Gods and Serpent
Yet there is no evidence that the desplayed creatures a the mentioned gods. And i dont think that Oda makes it that easy for us, where we can just connect the dots.

The mother flame is most likely a artificial Power source created by humans that has a very high Power density, compareable to the real sun.

Why do you think in this fantasy shonen manga that named Gods and a Serpent are anything but living things with powers and instead just basic natural phenomena?

And Im not talking about the Sun. Whether or not its a manmade powersource or not is irrelevant. Nika is the Sun God, a living thing from thousands of years ago. Given the fact that the Earth God and Serpent are referenced together and 2 creatures are blowing fire at each other, it stands reason to assume they are also living creatures.

Oda is making it that easy for us, thats why the Harley Text is literally read over the drawing double spread lmao. It very obviously is referring to the creatures on the drawing

Because this a story where no immortal higher being was introduced yet and it would not fit into the story, its as simple as that. It would feel like reading a different Manga. The only higher beings are people who put themselves into power and have nothing to do with being a godlike creature even when they feel like they should be. Additionaly it is confirmed that the ancient kingdom was a highly developed country with great technology. So it would make more sense for the moral and ethic of the story to underline the brutal competition, war and sacrifices that go along with great tech. Why would Oda pull some real gods out of his hat just for the last arc.
