For the US, yeah. Never for the region. Intervention when it's done for economical and strategic interests is always about exploitation and extraction. Mechanically, it can NEVER be in the interest of the people or beneficial. The US wants to bring back the Shah, meaning they want to return Iran to a system for and only for US interest and a brutal one (tortures, illegal detentions, political executions..).
There is no "better" in this situation, it's an imperialist intervention allowed by racist, strategic and economical western interests. Specifically the US.
Iran has been "weeks away close to go nuclear" for 30 YEARS!! FFS!
And WHAT IF Iran goes nuclear? Ask yourself why you consider it to be a problem. At the moment, Iran is not the one genociding the population of other countries while inviding them ! For what racist reason would Iran having the nuclear bomb be a problem when Israel - who again is currently still genociding others - is allowed to go on without restrictions on that subject? Hm?

Then maybe it's not up to us to inverne. There is something called mutual respect and if you break that, even on international scale, there are repercussion, you can't simply invade your neighboor for oil without getting the heat that comes with it.
Should we help in stopping Iran repress its population through international sanction and commitee? Yeah.
Should we use that excuse to play the imperialist again and exploit their ressources and destroy their economy ? Heck fucking no.
Those who thinks and defend that this intervention is necessary when we KNOW the result won't save anyone and will slowly destroy the country and the region, are no different from the racist colonists from 300 years ago.
This is imperialist mindset.

It's mostly about canceling the mid terms. The approval rating for Trump and the Republicans are super low and could lose many seats to the democrats in the mid terms. This also puts Trump at high risk of getting removed from office given how he's dangerously close to an impeachment with the current seats. He has a violated a shit ton of federal laws and attacked the constitution in his first few months alone.
