Oh then I fully agree. I said a while back Loki has to glaze Luffy at some point. It just has to happen.

I'm pretty shocked it didn't happen against Gunkimu tbh, Loki is breaking all norms so far.
It didn't happen against Gunkmu because oda planned to introduce IMU true form this arc.

And, Loki is an anomaly - just like Luffy and Teach. Loki is a special case.

But as you said, Loki is bound to glaze Nika and for a character like him, it only happens during a fight which he can't win and other character (in this case Nika) ends up coming across as a hope.

This is how one gets reality check. Loki no matter how strong or special case he is, at the end he will follow Luffy and for this, he needs to see hope in Luffy - the real liberator and the Sun God.

This has been consistent so far since the beginning of one piece so I have more reasons to believe it will happen again and not otherwise

It's a valid question though. What can Luffy reasonably achieve here to demonstrate superiority over Loki? There's no way Imu loses here, so Luffy can't amaze Loki by beating Imu or anything

Plus, in the flashback, Roger didn't really show superiority to his rivals either, so I don't think Elbaf is the time for that, the arc is clearly more about establishing Imu as the number 1 threat, and little else.
You guys are going to look retarded in the next 5 chapters.

Imagine reading almost 1200 chapters of this manga and still thinking a non-villain is going to upscale Luffy.

True
This might be Imu's sabaody

He doesn't need to beat Imu he just needs to do better against Imu than Loki does, just like how Oda set this chapter up to show Loki's clear superiority over Zoro and Sanji.
So is the argument that Loki will lose to Imu, while Luffy pushes him to mid diff or so? Fair enough, let's see what happens. We haven't even seen Loki use his hybrid form yet, so it would be a bit awkward if he gets low diffed himself, imo.

Ace did it, Sabo did it, everyone at Impel down etc. It's not impossible.

Obviously Luffy is a lot stronger now, but Loki is getting all the hype from Imu himself this arc. Having the man shook in his castle, which is pretty much unprecedented.

Loki prolly push Imu mid diff in hybrid form
ODA needs Midhogg hype

Right, which makes the situation a bit weird. Imu probably doesn't fall for a few hundred chapters, so it would be a bizarre choice if Luffy can push him beyond mid diff at the moment. So unless Loki gets straight up low or neg diffed, I'm not sure how Luffy will end up proving he's stronger(again, this arc only)

In manga, anime, SBS and VC, always bet on Luffy.

Oda will never make an ally or another SH outshine Luffy in an arc - by the end of an arc I mean.

I would have considered putting money on Loki if he had villainous aura around him but he doesn't
