Why do you speak as if you weren't part of the problem too?
I never said I wasn't. The point is that collective self awareness is crucial for resolving a problem that is also collective, and "bread and circuses" mechanisms only distance us from that capacity for self awareness, booth as individuals and as part of the collective.

A lot to say on that but in short, the quality of the squad isn't that good anymore and another thing imo is that the DFB (German football association) is like an old boys network and clique who are glued to their seats and do the same thing. They rather choose an average German coach instead of bringing in someone like Guardiola or Ancelotti because they are actually scared that a coach like that would expose all the frauds inside the DFB and shake up things.
This is about the World Cup, about the political effects of the tournament, but also about the World Cup itself. Or are you going to tell me it doesn't bother you that the French national team is composed almost entirely of naturalized players of African origin, while the fans are all native-born French people?
