You can see what being ambitionless does to a man: Croc went from fighting WB to losing to condom. Moria went from fighting Kaido to losing to condom. Rayleigh went from >>yonko level to hold back a mere admiral level.
Gaban had to stay sharp to an extent cause he had to keep those fodder giants and his brat safe. Ray on the other hand didn't give a fuck at all. His chick is a senior pirate with probably a billion+ bounty and CoC. But even Gaban probably didn't have anything close to a haki bloom after their brief fight with Cuckrald.

Gaban was on his deathbed just a few chapters ago, and now he is here, injured, old, and holding back the supposed final villain. Imu is much weaker than I thought. Kaido, Whitebeard, and Roger genuinely have a legitimate chance of being stronger than Imu.

If Imu is weak, Kaido must be the weakest character in this story since Imu negged the buffed version of the man who killed Kaido.
