How does that change the fact that ultimately it was snakeman's acceleration and speed that led Luffy to keep up with Kata and beat him?
I agree with you that it was mostly snakeman. The point was that even before Luffy used snakeman, he was actually able to start tagging and blocking Katakuri (like you see in the image) thanks to FS. This wasn't the case before, even when Luffy was in boundman.
This is for the larger point of Luffy's FS being useful against more than JUST fodder (something you claimed), which frankly should be kind of obvious.

In a brief Kaido's flashback was presented as a confrontation, as if they were standing in front of him. I used to think that this happened during Oden's fight with Kaido, but in that fight, Denjiro and Kanjuro were stopped by Queen, and Ashura was stabbed in the back with a sword, which means that the skirmish happened later.
I don't have the faintest idea what happened, but I don't think they were just standing there looking at each other(I know it sounds ironic, considering the last chapters lol) and Kaido remembered Ashura's power. Even in a drunken state.

First of all, if both combatants can significantly predict each other's action, it kind of cancels any advantage either one of the combatants would gain. Luffy using FS stops Katakuri from planning out counters way in advance, cuz now Luffy can do the same.
Second, and I'll admit this is a bit shakier, I don't Luffy could properly control Snakeman w/o FS, due to it's sheer speed. Otherwise, why would he have waited so long??
