In order not to spam the Islam Group thread.
First of all, the Quran does not go in accordance with science. The statements in the Quran are, if anything, very vague and prone to interpretation. On the other hand, there are a lot of verses contradicting with modern science.
The Big Bang is a theory, sure, but so is the theory of evolution and theory of gravity. Theory, in science, has another meaning.
"A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can be repeatedly tested and verified in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results. Where possible, theories are tested under controlled conditions in an experiment.[1][2] In circumstances not amenable to experimental testing, theories are evaluated through principles of abductive reasoning. Established scientific theories have withstood rigorous scrutiny and embody scientific knowledge.[3]"
Not to be mistaken with scientific hypothesis, which is what you mean when talking about theory.
So yes, the earth being formed several billion years after the "big bang" is based on a very strong scientific foundation.
While the Quran speaks of earth and heaven as two equal entities (something often the case in religious tales). Furthermore, the Quran states, that, after separating earth and heaven, Allah modelled the earth, set in it mountains, sustenance, etc. and only after that went on to create the heavens with its sun, moon and stars. Even placing the stars in the nearest heaven, below moon and the sun. Not only that, it took Allah 4 days to create the earth, where as it took him only 2 days to create the universe. Just to put it into perspective: The observable universe, as per current status, has around 2 trillion galaxies. Each galaxy is estimated to have around 100 - 300 billion stars, in addition to the planetary systems of each star. Allah created all that in 2 days, needing twice as much (4 days) for a single planet (earth). And those 2 trillion galaxies and their stars are apparently floating around in earths atmosphere (nearest heaven).
Here are the verses:
Ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “How can you disbelieve in the One Who created the earth in two Days? And how can you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of all worlds. - 41:9
He placed on the earth firm mountains, standing high, showered His blessings upon it, and ordained ˹all˺ its means of sustenance—totaling four Days exactly—for all who ask. - 41:10
Then He turned towards the heaven when it was ˹still like˺ smoke, saying to it and to the earth, ‘Submit, willingly or unwillingly.’ They both responded, ‘We submit willingly.’ - 41:11
So He formed the heaven into seven heavens* in two Days, assigning to each its mandate. And We adorned the lowest heaven with ˹stars like˺ lamps ˹for beauty˺ and for protection. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing.”- 41:12
Do you not see how Allah created seven heavens*, one above the other, - 71:15
placing the moon within them as a ˹reflected˺ light, and the sun as a ˹radiant˺ lamp? - 71:16

So it goes like this:
1. Allah creates the plain earth in 2 days
2. Then he places the mountains upon it and blesses it with sustenance and other things, taking another 2 days (4 in total)
3. Then he turns towards the heavens, which is still smoke, to form it into 7 heavens, where he puts, sun, moon and stars. Note: The stars are placed in the nearest heaven, so they are closer to the earth than the moon an the sun are. And it takes him only half as long
The Quran even says that the sun and moon have the same orbit.
According to the Quran, this is how earth looks like:
The earth, according to the Quran, has 7 layers too (65:12)
There are many other things to be mentioned, but this alone is devastating enough.
As four your question:
Ancient greek philosophers described the earth in much greater detail and with more precision. Figuring out the earth is a globe and calculating its diameter with very high precision. Even philosophising about the stars being other suns and with the earth orbiting the sun. While according to the Quran, the stars are lamps at the nearest heaven, which are even used as projectiles against Sheytans (the author of the Quran probably talked about shooting stars, which he believed to be stars falling from the sky).

Again I dont want to turn this thread into a debate section
