Well I am sure we'll find out soon enough. But one thing we do know, is at the bare minimum, it would have happened 14 years ago, if not longer. That would put Shanks at the age of 25 and Mihawk 27, which would be roughly 10 years before the average Prime age of the older generation of characters.

So my point still stands, current one armed Shanks > 25 year old two armed Shanks

That is not true, as current Shanks > two armed Shanks who fought Mihawk. That's why it's more logical that it's a pride factor that Mihawk doesn't want to fight Shanks, and has nothing to do with his current strength level.

And what exactly did Mihawk do to have a massive growth? He trained until there were no more worthy challengers and then joined the Shichibukai where he spent his days sailing for fun. Shanks would have been his last worthy challenger considering he's waiting for someone to surpass him. So Mihawk really hasn't fought anyone of note for the past 14 years. In that time frame Shanks built up his crew and himself until he reached the current pinnacle of the Pirate World, and became a yonko.
