There won't be an Ace flashback. The matchups will be finalized in One Piece 999 with Luffy and co. reading the roof, every Straw Hat having an opponent to fight, and the conclusion to Kaido vs Scabbards shown. Act 3 will end next chapter and we will have an outside of Wano chapter in 1000.

Kaido just wasted a bunch of high tiers, some of which are legit YC level. Especially the Sulong Dukes who obliterated Jack. With Kaido still saying they are a joke compared to Oden, who is truly monstrous. With Kaido still day dreaming about Oden, it doesn't make sense that current Kaido is much stronger than his past self.

Oden > all Scabbards including Sulong Dukes combined, but sure, he isn't top tier, lol.
