I think you can "rag" on the marvel formula but even marvel has been deviating from that formula to the point where others are abusing it more than they are. After the creative community disbanded (Feige wanted them gone), things started getting way better:

- Civil War had an entirely plot twisty 3rd act that wasn't about fighting a supervillain

- Dr strange had a reverse destruction porn 3rd act

- Thor 3 doesn't even have Thor defeat the villain

- Spider-Man HC also ends up the same way, he even saves the villain

- Black Panther is pretty formulaic but the actual setting is one of the most unique in the industry. The way it handles its plot between the villains is not formulaic

- Captain Marvel takes out her villain in 1 hit lol

- Ant-Man 2 pretty much has no 3rd act finale with a villain

- Infinity War ends with them losing

- Endgame starts with them STILL losing, then entirely changes people's expectations of the plot. Its a 3 hour character study about how people cope with losing. Theres basically only one major battle in the entire film. Not saying its Oscar worthy or anything but was well done.

-The Disney + shows look extremely unique in terms of their effort to differentiate from the formula.
