Marco has always been a non-standard for a YC-1 dude but this one panel of him holding off Queen and King doesn't mean much in regards to how he'd fare in a fight against King. It's too soon to be jumping on to the conclusions.

That’s your perception but it isn’t reinforced by anything in the manga. Luffy is the Pirate Messiah showing up to fulfill Oden’s prophecy of defeating Kaido.

But regardless, the point of the scene is to show the old (or middle, technically) era of Pirates in Kaido and Big Mom, vs a new era that is finally ready to stand against them as equals, as emphasized by Luffy successfully injuring Kaido after dodging an attack from him.



Bruh. The narrative is culminating in this moment. You can’t disregard a narrative climax because you still aren’t ready to put Luffy = to Kaido on your tier list.

5 people vs 2, simple maths even if we wanna go by what youre trying to say that Luffy is = Kaido( which i sincerely doubt this is the hill you wanna die on rn) then what about the other 4?

Luffy is not yet equal to any top tier, he's getting there. You're rushing to conclusions and are being a prisonner of the moment.


The narrative culminating doesnt change the fact that this entire raid had no tension being felt.

No one looks special while fighting people several levels above their level. If you're trying to say Katakuri is more special than Marco, he would look like an ant if he were in an arc centered around Admirals and WB.

Btw just one other thing: As underwhelming as this chapter was, I'm now more convinced than ever that Luffy & Co. are going to get bodied in the next few chapters.
We still haven't had the tragic ending of act three.

Queens portrayal is exactly why Sanji will likely fight him. The portrayal of Sanji's opponents has never really been great, (Especially compared to how the 2nd storngest is portrayed) While they do turn out to be pretty strong when they actually start fighting, their portrayal prior to their fight is not great.
