Powers & Abilities Are non-weapon users underrated

#6
Yes, they are underrated because many don't take into consideration that flesh in the OP world can be way harder to cut then mere rock.
Brawlers are not only able to dodge or block an attack using haki, they can also use one of their own attacks to counter a sword attack. Brawlers and swordsmen can clash.

Being a proficent swordsman is certainly advantageous for anyone capable of wielding a sword, blocking an attack is easier, you are more lethal and so on but it doesn't mean swordsmen are better than brawlers.
Just as Luffy was weaker while using swords in Arlong Park, Zoro is weaker with no sword to use.
They are different fighting style

Zoro needs his swords to reach his peak as a fighter, without them, he would be far weaker.
Sanji and Luffy would be in a different league

I have noticed that pure brawlers like luffy, garp, etc. are underrated when compared to people that uses weapon especially sword.

I don't think sword is a weakness for strong fighters as far as their haki is better
I dont think Luffy counts as a pure brawler cause he uses a df.

Sanji before raid suit would have counted here.

The only people you could consider as pure brawlers are Garp and Koby as they rely purely on their bodies to fight without external tools ie suits, swords, dfs etc.

The fact that the entire series only has 2 individuals that fights while only relying on their bodies shows that it is very tough to do so.

Luffy also needs his df to reach his peak. Cause in point, Luffy without gears has not defeated anyone of note since the EL arc.

The only one I agrre with is Sanji preRaid suit. Now with raid suit, he too will be like Zoro and Luffy and will not be at his peak without the raid suit. Cause in point, he would have received more damage from P1 and King without his suit

It depends.

Akainu is the epitome of brawler, and he is so much better than so many swordsmen around. But if Mihawk ate the Goro Goro he would spell the end of Akainu with ease. However Prime Garp with the Magu would prove it to be different matter.

It all depends.

I'm pretty Sure Garp is the best, the guy uses Mountains as punching Bags with his bare Hands & he literally have the Epithet of "The Fist"
Akainu burning everything he touches doesn't make him "Epitome of Brawler"

Actually he showed more Ranged Techniques than Punches in MF
Oh don't take it the wrong way. I only meant from a power levels perspective, not skill.

What do you mean? Could you Imagine non weapon user in real world at Golden age of Pirates?!
That's exactly how it should be. You don't have to be a swordman to wield the sword, but fact is that sword was always most effective weapon to pierce and kill. That is why Roger, Rocks and others use sword. They don't give a shit on swordman pride etc, they just use most practical weapon. How exactly barehand user could be on same line?

But then again, you could and should consider DF as weapon too.

Because some of them hit like this

And can do shit like this

Or stuff like King Punch. Or Sai's drill Dragon kick etc. While still having access to high - top tier hardening that can make their bodies massively stronger than steel and Flow to enhance their AP lol.

They have plenty ways to contend with the powers set in place in this series

Just imagine this

We need more martial artists like Garou in One Piece.:steef::steef:Swordsman are overrated.:endthis:

Depends on the character i would say, some are underrated, while others are extremely overrated.

I dont know if Luffy is a pure brawler, he has a DF that enchances his reach by a LOT, not to mention the speed and power boost the gears give him. He dosent realy use any martial arts either like the techniques the CP9 uses like Soru, Tekai, etc...
