Vice captain is the person in charge of the crew in the captain's absence. Luffy gives authority to Sanji multiple times throughout the series.

No, First Mate is an official ship rank that means Second in Command and is unrelated to join order. It shouldn't be understood as "First mate to join" but "Mate first in hierarchy", which is its real meaning.

It´s shared by Nami and Zoro.
Nami has the reins in day to day stuff when Zoro either trains or recovers by sleeping, Zoro is there for the important stuff.

Not really, FM is the 2nd in command, it doesn't actually mean whomever joined first is First Mate... that's just asinine and usually that's just something non-fiction stories tend to do like manga's. Vice Captain isn't even a thing unless about sports or rather a team... ans it's when the Captain isn't around to make calls.

There's a clear cut difference respect and prestige wise. And also portrayal.

Zoro to Luffy is not the same as Marco to Whitebeard.
