After seeing Luffy's panel with Legends shadows behind him, I became more confident that the key player is Luffy in this fight, as it will be a fight to transcend Luffy into those legends league... Zoro would be the 2nd bes supporter imo although I can be wrong and it's Kidd and Law... but I feel Oda will make Zoro look better in this fight... but no one will be as crucial as Luffy, especially with latest chapter kaido seeing shadows of people who can stand against him in Luffy

THE KEY PLAYER OF ONIGASHIMA'S BATTLE OF MONSTERS

Of course, it is none other than Roronoa Zoro. The latest chapter has proved that Kaido is far tougher than anyone had imagined.
It is also questionable if LinLin is close to as tough as Kaido and if that happens to be so, the Supernovas will have trouble injuring both Emperors. All 5 characters, opposing the Rocks duo, ended up doing nothing in the opening of the battle, more or less as expected.

Law was affected by PIS the most, he decided to throw some rocks onto Kaido... I will turn a blind eye on that one for now.
Law's regular abilities should soon start showing their limits and some may stay out of the fight just because they wouldnt do much in the end, like personality switch...
Counter Shock should be completely ineffective on Emperors, the chopping will either not work or will be dodged. The only effective thing in his arsenal is Gamma Knife.
And even that will not do the job. It should certainly be significantly more effective than Luffy's cheap version of it but ultimately not enough.

Kidd ended up as the greatest disappointment. His whole strategy of bringing in more metal to crush Kaido resulted in a simple "Urgh!" and that is it...
Gotta say, I myself thought it would work to some degree but I was wrong, Kaido is way too tough to be crushed. Kidd can try to slam him, crush him all he wants, he is hopeless. He looked dumbfounded regarding Luffy's haki so that's a tell that his haki game is nowhere close to the required level. He is nothing more than a meat shield as it stands and I would trade him for a better meat shield - DR Pica's golem. I thought he would be the Pica of Wano but so far he looks worse.

Luffy's legendary long-awaited internal destruction haki in the first(exaggerated) hit ended up giving Kaido a bloody lip. Yes, that's all. When the first exaggerated hit ends up having such low effectiveness you know that it will be bad, cant say I didnt see it coming, wasnt hard knowing the pattern of Luffy's fights(countless hits required)...
Kaido decided to play with his food, tagged him despite FS and ends up mocking him that he is putting up a better fight this time around... Luffy isnt looking good here at all, he would have died already if not for others. He needed to be saved 2 times, by Zoro and Law, despite having FS... His G4 mode ended up doing nothing to Kaido...

Killer with his acrobatics probably can manage to avoid the attacks better than a FS user lol. He decided not to use Haki either it seems, just like Zoro. Excusable for 1st hit.
It is questionable to what degree haki would help him and if it would change anything. His chances are better if he tries to go after their eyes to gouge them out.
It is interesting that he attempted decapitation(wonder what is Oda hinting with that one lol), he certainly knows where to strike but will most likely remain not too effective as the battle goes on.

And we finally get to the key player, Roronoa Zoro. In the opening strike, his effectiveness was as low as that of the other 4 players, nothing significant was done.
Also decided not to use Haki, the excuse seems to be that he is restraining himself because of Enma. The interesting part is that he aimed for the spot where Oden's scar is.
The chapter ended with Kaido going into dragon form, which can mean only one thing - Zoro is about to cut him open. The dragon form helps with keeping the wound small in proportions to the huge dragon body. Just like in Oden's case, the wound that was of Oden's size in dragon form ended up being relatively small when in base form.

With Zoro opening an old wound or creating a new one, the effectiveness of the other 4 players drastically improves because they have a weak spot to target.
There are more reasons why Zoro is the key player other than just opening the wound to make others effective. Kaido needs to die and without Zoro that cannot happen.
Without Zoro, Borobreath and Prometheus are going to keep tormenting the other 4. Considering that Kaido, the guy who blitzed a FS user, tried to strike Zoro with the club and got outmaneuvered and tagged, Zoro looks like the most capable combatant among the Supernovas, by far. Without Zoro that battle is lost, good thing he is up there. Among all the creatures of the seas, Zoro's existence is the most terrifying one. Kaido will have to learn that the hard way, by facing the demon god Asura.
Will he be able to withstand some of Asura's hits or it will end him with one? Lemme know what you think.

The way:

Usopp was the MVP of Dressrosa by sniping Sugar before she could turn Luffy and Law into toys.

Sanji was the MVP of WCI by stoping Big Moms rampage with his cooking.

Zoro could be the MVP of Wano by opening Kaido's scar and thus creating a more significant weak spot for Luffy to focus on to win that fight.

I have a feeling Zoro has a move that surpasses even Asura for the new world that still doesn't make Asura any less potent though next time he uses it some heads will be flying. Kaido going to his dragon form is great news for Zoro he loves cutting up big targets he might just deliver the first deadly strike on Kaido. He has everything he needs to be the biggest player in this arc, even Oda couldn't hold back showing off the new move he stole from Kinemon so soon which means this is just the tip of the iceberg

The game is on feeling super excited for the great show the grandmaster is about to put on

Yeah, the fast-paced treatment of fire cutting hints that it's just a minor thing and a lot better stuff is coming.
Not surprised considering Zoro holding back the entire postTS and barely showing anything.
Not sure if anything is superior to Asura, it's quite hard to outdo such a god mode...

Wait how did Zoro make Kaido bleed without using Haki? That doesn’t make any sense from what we know. An those black dots are in ever panel that’s not blood.
Hmm, I've changed my mind on it. For now, I think Zoro didn't draw blood from Kaido or otherwise significantly damage him this chapter. I might reconsider if the Viz reveals that Kaido indeed complimented Zoro and Killer on their attack.

@Geo.
