General & Others Did you skip Skypiea?

I've heard that a lot of people skipped this arc when they first started One Piece, and I’m actually one of them. I watched maybe 10 episodes and then stopped , I don’t remember why. After catching up to the anime, I went back and watched it, and I still have no idea why I or anyone else skipped it.

I thought it was absolutely amazing. Enel is one of the best villains in the series, and the Goro Goro no Mi is, in my opinion, one of the top 5 Devil Fruits . Wiper is one of the best 'arc heroes,' alongside Kyros , The lore of Skypiea was incredibly rich, and the Noland flashback was beautifully written.
The uniqueness of Skypiea as a location was a huge plus; the idea of an island in the sky felt so fantastical yet perfectly fit the One Piece world. It’s probably the funniest arc as well, The "Enel face" is obviously iconic.

The only downside was that the side cast felt forgettable. I’m talking about both the good and bad side characters. Other than Gan Fall, his bird , the weird guy Chopper fought, and the round, annoying guy who fought Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp, the others didn’t leave much of an impression on me, i can't even remember their names .

I would give the arc a solid 8/10.
So, did you skip Skypiea at first? If so, why? And what do you think of it now?"

...Sort of?

Not by choice. I was originally watching One Piece via Toonami. And Toonami stopped airing One Piece right in the middle of Skypiea. Then when they brought it back, they skipped ahead to Long Ring Long Land.

So, for a good while I never saw the conclusion to Skypiea. Until I eventually just broke down and read the manga. Then I got to experience Skypiea in full. I caught up around Punk Hazard, so around 2012, right before One Piece returned to Toonami. I guess I've never actually gone back and watched all of Skypiea via the anime, but I'm not sure if there's a point in doing so, either.

At the time, it did kind of feel like a weird diversion from the main story. Since it didn't involve travelling on the seas, fighting any of the Seven Warlords, and we didn't get a new crewmember out of the arc.

But I like the arc nowadays. Especially since it seems like it's only getting more important as the story goes on. The fight with Enel and the bell scene are pretty memorable moments. Good stuff.

No
It was one of the arcs that did annoy me very much the first time but since then it has grown on me
The pacing wasn't too good imo but when i was able to skip a few of the things i thought were unnecessary the times i revisted it, there were a few cool moments and characters that you could enjoy like the flashback and Wyper etc..

Started the up to date manga somewhere between the end of TB and Saboady I think.
Watched the start till skypiea in anime when it was first published.

I ecxicitly remember not liking luffy with his cringy stretching in the intro even back then.

Nah, why would I? When I started reading the manga it was still on Water 7. I bought the volumes on physical paper before I was forced to read the latest chapters online.

Skypiea is still to date one of my favorite arcs.
