One Piece fillers are actually pretty good and G8 is considered the best one from pre-skip.

It's the one where Luffy shadows that one Marine and does the peace signs.
Yes, filler arc or not this is the first time in the story I ever really respected marine organization. It was probably one of the best filler arc I've ever seen animated.

Sanji also got to shine as a cook, which is awesome.

That dish is probably the most recreated recipe from One Piece because the animation is so detailed it's actually instructive. :suresure: I wish it were canon.

Yeah looking at some of these ingredients it will take me some time to get all together but will be worth it. Sanji's cooking is actually why he's my favorite straw hat.

I like him because Oda made sure he was defined by his kindness more than anything.

It's evident reading One Piece that Oda values kindness in people above everything else, and Sanji very much feels like the closest extension of Oda himself.

He's the most expressive Strawhat and that's saying something.

Even the moments Sanji is embarrassed or the butt of a joke - I don't think people realise that kind of writing really has to come from an organic place of joy and Oda's laughing his ass off while writing and drawing.

I think Oda's struggled to find a balance at times, but when he does, everything just works.
