All these elements and dualities Sanji shares with so many important characters - Luffy, Shanks, Ace, Whitebeard, Loki - are not coincidental.
Sanji and Loki in particular have plenty of parallels.

I believe Mars is possibly the last remaining figure from the Second World, and the rest were selected during or after the Void Century.
My current headcanon is that Mars is the last remaining Monarch beside Imu and the only Elder to know the full story.
That information may be vital to defeat Imu or Blackbeard, and it's the kind of thing I'd expect Sanji to uncover and do something with.
