I mean, yeah, it's a bit pushy, but it's logical in the romanticization of OP, plus it's made with respect and without disrespecting the character of Shakky while showing that the real relationship was there all along thus going in depth in something we didn't knew we needed by showing us a loving old couple's beginning.

Shakky is, for pirates, what nami, or Usopp or Robin are for Luffy. They are his treasure. Reminder that Oda himself is aware that he has a chunky female fanbase, but completely ignores them claiming that girls don't care about shonen. As a shonen, he prioritizes the young male audience and tries to appeal to them. That's why majority of females are either simps, need to be saved 24/7, ugly as fuck, sexually dressed, etc..

Yeah, Oda is a sexist dud, but careful, there are nuances. Every characters needs to be saved in OP, it's not just women. The problem with the saved princess trope is that these princess don't have agency. This is not something that happens (compared to many shonen in fact) in OP. All women have agency. This "I'm only appealing to male audience" has shifted in the new world.
There are also nuances to that as well. Especially in the new world.
