Lets be honest, this tattoo on Shanks arm and losing it later aint an asspull of Oda. Shanks didnt do this on purpose. Dude literally lost his arm because he literally underrated his enemy, he cant fly, he cant swim as a fishmen or cant use his sword in water as in land... he went swimming and got there in the moment and lost his arm for underrating his enemy, for stupid.
