Caveats: this was for Pre Enma Santoryu Zoro, and I commented below that it was probably a medium difficulty fight.

I currently strongly disagree with that stance, it does give me pause about the accuracy of my current views on the topic.

It seems that two One Piece Magazines have been strongly hinting that Zoro will slay a(n Eastern) dragon and become the saviour of Wano.

I would say that I'm currently around 70% confident that Zoro will fight Kaido. There's still a significant chance the fight doesn't happen, but if that occurs, it would imply Oda decided to deliberately troll the fanbase. That is possible, but it isn't particularly likely.

Love seeing how confident you are in Zoro's role with the Kaido fight! I understand the skepticism when it comes to actually killing him, since that's something we know Oda has a nasty track record with, but I'm still happy to see you're fighting the good fight.

At this point I am more confident that Zoro will fight Kaido than that he will fight King. If you have any confidence in my takes on One Piece, then this is my current position after reviewing the available evidence.

Ryuma was a mythical figure that singlehandedly protected Wano from the outside world. He was christened as the Sword God, and slew a dragon.

Zoro inherited Ryuma's katana.

Now, Zoro is in Ryuma's homeland and an Eastern Dragon is the tyrant that terrorises the country.

Conclusion: Zoro will not fight Kaido.

I now think that Pre Enma Santoryu Zoro beats Cracker, Kyoshiro and Jack, all around high (some might be very high) difficulty. This is not really compatible with this version of Zoro being a low high tier, so I'm revising him upwards to mid high tier. I guess YC 3 level is fine for now. The characters I think he beats are YC 3 themselves, and I may simply be overrating him.

Issho didn't impress me in Dressrosa. Mihawk also wasn't impressive at Marineford, but it wasn't exactly the same. Mihawk merely failed to low diff Vista. Issho did not only fail to low diff Zoro, but his attack was overpowered and he was pushed back by a low tier attack (nameless ittoryu flying slash) of Zoro's. There was never an equivalent moment in Mihawk vs Vista.

Right now, I'm just waiting for @Light D Lamperouge to help me stitch some panels together (I have way more than 40 images) to help me get under the image limit. My Pre Enma Santoryu Zoro vs Cracker essay would soon be complete. I think Zoro still wins handily. As far as I can tell, the only reason to bet on Cracker is if you dogmatically insist that because Luffy required help to beat Cracker, Zoro flat out cannot beat him. I don't subscribe to that, so I don't find that argument compelling.

My Enma Santoryu Zoro vs Cracker thread was a stomp in Zoro's favour, and to my surprise most people agreed. I think I'm going to write a Pre Enma Santoryu Zoro vs Cracker thread now. It would largely be similar to my former thread, but I'll clean it up a bit.

Who knows, maybe I can effectively counter @critical mindset's outrageous Cracker wank.
