hmmm the scenes with Sentomaru highlighting Egghead's doom with the researchers evacuating shortly after are giving a sense of imminence to this entire affiar . An entire night passing away with the SH's just biding their time for the entire night would feel a bit weird and anticlimactic

I mean regardless of that, it's daytime at egghead right now. So an entire day has to pass for whatever is about to go down there. Onigashima ended on the same night, same for Dressrosa and the others too.
