Wasn't gonna say "anti-Yamato", but I have wondered how many think Yamato will stay on Wano genuinely care about Momo's story and if he still needs to be babied despite wanting to be his own shogun.

As much as it can be futile to try to find recruitment patterns in a manga that tends to embrace the random and weird, I'd still think that one major driving force of what leads Luffy to recruit some is how much he and the world-be recruit are emotionally connected. I think that very much shows...
Yeah, and the fact that Oda changed the fighting style up to decidedly cartoony might be a sign that even he knew he could show more creativity than just hitting things hard in the same way.
Can't wait to see how Luffy comes to terms with quitting trying to be pirate king and captain in order to fulfill his role as the guardian deity of the Sun, since it sounds too important of a role for him to ignore after all.
