You really think Luffy at 8 years old was telling Ace and Sabo about how he wants to destroy the holy land despite not even knowing what a Celestial Dragon is?
I'm really just thinking about how the story is gonna be structured moving forward
One Piece, from day one, has been the crew heading towards a set destination. It would be really weird if the crew backtracked to Mariejois at the last second, especially cause imo it's more likely that Imu is...
Blackbeard was literally introduced arguing with Luffy over food
Luffy and Blackbeard have similar ideals, but they're still opposites because Blackbeard twists those ideals to be cruel and selfish
Like, do you think it's a coincidence that Blackbeard has 10 Titanic Captains while Luffy wanted10...
Look at the crew's reactions here
Luffy's dream is obviously something crazy and whimsical like pissing on the moon. Not anything epic like political upheaval
Luffy's a pirate. Not a revolutionary
Not necessarily. Roger's reaction when he found the One Piece was laughter. I think the One Piece is more likely to be something quaint and funny rather than anything earth-shattering
Blackbeard represents the dark side of freedom. He's a distortion of Luffy's ideals. Having someone like him be...
You say that, but I really do think Laugh Tale is the final arc
Oda thinks he can finish the series in three years (I seriously doubt he'll finish it in less than 5 but that's beside the point). I don't think he'd be saying that if he had some massive 100+ chapter long arc planned out after...
Couldn't Whitebeard's statement have a double meaning to it?
Instead of the One Piece itself radically changing the world, couldn't you say that anyone who has managed to navigate to Laugh Tale has already changed the world in doing so?
Couple issues with this
The World Government is not a bigger evil than what Blackbeard has the potential to be. After all, Roger teamed up with Garp to defeat Xebec. And given the parallels between Luffy/Roger and Teach/Xebec, it's very likely we're getting something similar with Teach.
My guy...
But Luffy and Blackbeard are opposites to one another, just in a way that's different from "Freedom vs Oppression." Both of them embody freedom, but in different and opposite ways. Luffy wants to be the freest person, yes, but he pursues his dream in such a way that respects the freedom of...
Nice write up, but I thought I'd give my own thoughts
I understand that Whitebeard said that the world will be shaken to its core once someone finds the One Piece, but I think that might have a second meaning to it. Rather than the One Piece being so special that its discovery will change the...
Yeah I agree with pretty much all of this. Plus, I personally don't think Imu is getting played as a serious threat. One Piece is not a series that takes itself seriously, and if you look at its track record with mysterious/serious characters, they're rarely played straight.
- Katakuri was...
Yeah a bit. I always saw Blackbeard as Luffy's archnemesis, but I was considering that his final opponent would turn out to be Imu. But after 1044 I think we can safely say the final boss is probably going to be Blackbeard. Sun God vs Darkness is a pretty clear contrast
I mean, not quite...
