I've actually come around on this. @Shiroyru pointed out that Luffy never starts the final round against the antagonist until all the Strawhat have completed their individual battles.

I expect the final round vs Kaido to be Luffy and/or Zoro. Kidd, Killer and Law seem likely to fall beforehand, Zoro might fall as well, but I'm optimistic given his extensive build up.

Zoro's indication that he still hasn't fully acclimatised to Enma might indicate an improvement that happens between this fight and the final round.

Luffy will get chapters fighting Kaido 1 v 1, but thats not the problem. Its finishing he will need Zoro for. Oda has to Show Luffy atleast be able to fight him cause how else will he put the "Great" pirate in front of his title box. Luffy will KO him but he will eventually get back up. This is where Zoro is needed.

Zero chance Zoro outshines Luffy by getting the finishing blow. This is One Piece, not sword piece.
Luffy is the only one with internal destruction haki, the only thing capable of overcoming Kaido's regen.
