I’ve always felt Shanks may be the one to show us a little more depth w it. And you’re right Kaido has been around the greatest of conquerors and is the current strongest guy around seemingly but remember CoC is not something you can train to be better, you learn to control it. So it’s possible ppl just have a better affinity for the skill, after seeing Luffy and Zoro obtain the coating ability it seems like something just “clicked” they just instinctively started using it. We still have Shanks who introduced CoC to us in the first place, we also have people like Dragon or Mihawk that we’ve barely seen that most likely have it. Kaido has seen Roger, Xebec, etc but we the readers didn’t see the full extent of their arsenals. I have some hope left still.

I like it so far. Wrapping your weapons in that shit so you can attack your opponents spirit directly seems way more powerful than just flexing and taking out weak spirits.

I think that Zoro in ch 997 really created an earthquake but he himself didn't realize because at the same moment Kiado started to pull off the island so the two things got overlapped.
I can definitely see in the future Zoro causing
earthquakes with his Conqueror Haki because imo there is still an even more advanced application of CoC which differs from user to user. So while Zoro will create earthquakes with it as foreshadowed in this scene another CoC user could be able to do other things like space/time manipulation (this is what I expect from Shanks actually).
