Not in terms of power level, but as a character, personality, interactions with luffy, actions in the manga.

Both are among the greatest antagonists One Piece has ever produced. I personally prefer Akainu but in terms interaction with the protagonist and actions within the manga, Blackbeard beats him.

What makes Blackbeard more interesting in the Luffy interaction department is the fact that the interaction between these two has not always been negative.

1) Blackbeard was the only one in Mock Town who encouraged Luffy to find Sky Island and to pursue his dreams.

2) Blackbeard and Luffy inadvertently assisted each other during Impel Down. Magellan was only outmaneuvered because these two acted at the same time. If only even one of them had acted at a different time then Magellan would have destroyed both groups.

Meanwhile, Akainu’s only interaction involves fisting the protagonist’s sibling to death. Lol.

Blackbeard’s actions led to the death of the most legendary Yonko, the destruction of the aforementioned Yonko’s entire crew, elevated himself to take the available Yonko seat and started a whole new era.

Akainu became a higher ranked cog in the Marine machine.

I expect both of these fine individuals to achieve great feats in the future. :absojustice:

Teach and Sakazuki serve as perfect mirrors/foils to Luffy. Teach being a dark reflection of the kind of Pirate Luffy is. They both believe in the same principles of freedom and wonder, but their methods of accomplishing it are vastly different. Sakazuki, however, is all about control, not letting the world sink into a era of chaos. He's all about plucking weeds away before they have the time to sprout. He's the definition of anti-freedom. Even the scar he left Luffy, the X, tends to represent the concept of restriction.

To that end, I find them to be fantastic antagonists, who I wouldn't mind either to be the final boss.

All about preference if you're into military stuff and dictators then Sakazuki is the guy you would go with.

If you're into an "evil" villain who wants to conquer the world and such, then Blackbeard is the guy you would go with.

As for their relation with luffy. Only Blackbeard really has a direct relation with Luffy, and they're rivals in piracy. Sakazuki cared about him due to being Dragon's son, that's about it. Oda didn't even bother showing Sakazuki reacting to Luffy's bounty, while he did for Blackbeard.

Akainu is quite interesting with his absolute justice morale and how is ready to go at any length to cleanse the seas from the pirate scum. Provoke Ace in order to magma pierce him and cheesing Sguardo behind the scenes were magnificent Akainu moments for me. Yet BB is on another level, he is eos villain material, he fooled the whole world, first WB pirates and then the WG to pursue his own power agenda and he is still far from completing it aka more schemes and backstabbing from this magnificient b***** ahead. The only, or one of the few, true real pirate.

i don't like anything of Teach . while i don't like Akainu's agressiveness , i like his Magma Logia , plus his design are cool , especially the pre skip one with red suit

so i choose Akainu

Both of them are in my list of top 3 fav and top 3 strongest characters.

I personally prefer Blackbeard more due to the way he has been portrayed.

But there are some common traits in both of them - both are about getting the job done. Both are opportunistic. Both are best in their respective roles.

Akainu is more of a professional and it is because he is heading a discipline institution of navy. Personality wise he fits in navy theme perfectly.

Blackbeard is more of rebellious, notorious kind of personality fitting with pirate theme perfectly.

It shouldn't be far fetch to say that Akainu is the greatest marine and Blackbeard is the greatest pirate. No wonder they both are end game for Luffy

I don't like Akainu but I appreciate his character....going any lengths to get the job done....however, BB is perfect pirate like and is antithesis of Luffy....I like him....no wonder he is end game material....I am guessing he is gonna become PK before Luffy does

akainu has slightly more depth than lucci. the absolute justice thing is just lazy and boring.

teach on the other hand is interesting.
its hard to predict his next move.

akainu on the other hand keeps being a rabid lapdog. boring.

Blackbeard is more well-written atm.
I need to see Akainu's backstory to change my mind maybe.
