Character Discussion Anyone else think that the Seraphim were kinda dumb additions to the story?

Well, kinda, look how they kept switching sides during Egghead. Or how Bonney has the total last word over them. Imagine her with clones of Kaido, Big Mom, Whitebeard and Saint Shanks.
Are you saying the Gorosei told Vegapunk “do not make clones of the Yonko in case someone manages to steal their command from us”?

why didn’t the Gorosei just tell the Vegapunk “do not let it be possible for our command line f the seraphims to be stolen”

It seems the Seraphim have some sort of voice recognition system for the Gorosei installed in. But like imagine someone yanked one of those command chips and had control over a cloned Yonkou. Unless a Gorosei goes and overrides control, whoever did that now has their own personal Yonkou clone soldier.

Granted, a Warlord clone is still dangerous, but not as nearly so.

It's definitely a weird decision to have both the Knights of Gods & the Seraphim in the same organization, in the same general time frame, doing more or less the same thing? Both make use of pseudo invincibility in different ways, connected to bigger lore implications (Lunarian Void Century lore tied to Joyboy versus immortality from Imu), both likewise have ties to existing characters outside their immediate group.

The only justification I can see is if the Knights of God do not make it to the final war and the Seraphim are the Tobi Roppo equivalent for semi-important characters to fight. Though to me it seems like Oda hit control C and gave us a second tertiary antagonist group for the World Gov.

Imo the Knights of God at least partially dont. 3 of them are here in Elbaf now, and who knows if more come later. Id assume the rest are for the Revolutionaries' assault

Shichibukai system: A system that the WG/Navy allows certain notorious pirates to act more freely while being required to sometimes put fear into the hearts of others pirates as they primarily work for the wg/navy.
The issue: these pirates were simply too unreliable. Many scandals like Crocodile trying to take over Alabasta, Doffy's reign in Dressrosa, Teach's betrayal, Jimbo's resignation, etc.
The solution: create powerful pacifistas that resemble these same notorious shichibukais, to both capitalize on their infamy, as well as reproducing a race that has extremely broken abilities (lunarians). Make them obedient so you have less issues.
The 2nd issue: they retain some of the original person's personality, because Oda decided that personality is genetical. So some of them may still be problematic, but they are still programmed to be obedient. So there's less chance for scandals.

You: "hurr durr its just for matchup".
That's kinda the issue though. They exist only as a plot device for letting the Warlord system be dissolved

I get it from the stand point of keeping a power as strong as the warlords on the wg side. As a plot point I don't like it as they basically can't lose to anyone unless they have a unique ability to bypass their durability or have top tier ap. The are basically invincible to 99% of the op world. Either oda is going to have to nerf them or buff the op world if they ever get into any actual fight. Most characters can't do anything to them and oda isn't going to let the wg use that to their advantage but is going to make the wg use them stupidity because they are to strong. Imo I'd rather the wg have just kept the Warlord system.
