Are they done?

Definitely not dead. This is One Piece. But I also think that they are both getting up. Oda pretty much wrote them both out of sight out of mind. I don’t think that they are done just yet.

Edit: Finally! People with logic! Let’s go! Kaido and BM aren’t done!

kaido yes
big mom No

the difference between what the two was iterated as they are defeated
big mom implied she wont go down that easily
kaido on the other hand gradually began to accept/recall the person who would defeat him in the future was the joyboy his rightarm was waiting on.
He didn't accept it lol. He recalled his belief that Joyboy would come to defeat him, but never admitted to himself that he was losing.

"I could have let you kill me" doesn't work if it's not enough to actually kill him

since he never admitted he was losing
why would he recall that conversation at the exact moment he is being defeated........

Either Kaido and Big Mom are two big retards that choose defeat instead of using said awakening or the logical answer they did use in the fight.
Or the most retard one Kaido and Big Mom are awakening just now after using their DF's for over 40+ years.

Realize THIS: If Kaido lost right now, it was literally because he CHOSE to not get out of the way and take the attack head on. That would be so lame!!!

Not only that, but yes, they need to be awakened. It makes no sense to the story if they are not awakened. They couldn’t have been using it, because Oda reveals through dialogue when they use awakening. They better get up or Wano goes down significantly in my arc rankings.

Kaido has been taking attacks head on for the entire Arc, he has suicidal tendencies this point makes no sense.
So yeah they are probably awakened and have been using it during their fights, because it makes NO sense for them not to.

Both recognized their opponents as strong they proceeded to use new unique abilities for me it's pretty obvious Bigger Mom was a awakened ability since we had a entire Arc with her where she never showed anything like it.
Kaido on the other hand either his magma Dragon is his Awakened form (that form makes absolute no sense lol) or the ones he started doing with Shuron Hakke, his drunken mode.

I don’t think those were their awakenings, but I guess we will see in the upcoming chapters. Uf they didn’t and do not get up, Oda dropped the ball on this.

If we're assuming that the flashback is relevant to his thoughts in the fight with Luffy and not just for the sake of the readers, why is he remembering getting sold out by his government and not actually anything else related to Joyboy? We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets.

This is brilliant.
You guys connect some parallels out of nowhere but the one parallel Oda is making it clear (same chapter, same page, as the storytelling flows) you choose to ignore, comical behavior lmao
