If we're assuming that the flashback is relevant to his thoughts in the fight with Luffy and not just for the sake of the readers, why is he remembering getting sold out by his government and not actually anything else related to Joyboy? We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets.
pretty sure it's relevant to his thoughts
peep the top right panel before the flashback

did you read the king fight
the flashback on how he met kaido leading up to the promise he made to kaido as he loses
similar occurred here

"We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets."
you dont not we

he got the idea from yamato after echoing some of what was written in oden's journal

if you believe kaido hasnt accepted defeat, then you believe luffy hasnt won.

This is brilliant.
You guys connect some parallels out of nowhere but the one parallel Oda is making it clear (same chapter, same page, as the storytelling flows) you choose to ignore, comical behavior lmao
Big Mom believes literally nothing about Joyboy as we know it, but Kaido does. Why? What was explained that I'm ignoring? Of all the emperors, Shanks and Blackbeard knowing something makes sense because of what we know. Kaido believing in Joyboy and King having his own theory while Kaido's "big sister" doesn't

Kaido has no idea what's in the journal, and clearly he heard it before Yamato said it.

your question was "We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets."
oden's journal implied joyboy will turn up in wano in the near future. yamato read odens journal and mentions that to kaido . kaido is in wano hence kaido realizes joyboy might turn up in wano.

sir does that answer your question now?

No. Kaido has never had access to Oden's journal. Kaido says that Yamato "dropped Joyboy's name." That doesn't tell us what Yamato actually said to Kaido other than the name Joyboy and his apparent role. Kaido has no idea where Yamato heard it.

You're conflating what us readers know with what has been relayed throughout the story, but they don't line up for a coherent message on why Kaido believes or knows the things he does.

except that wasnt your question . why does kaido need to know where yamato heard it from .are you beginning to move the goalpost

"Kaido says that Yamato "dropped Joyboy's name." That doesn't tell us what Yamato actually said to Kaido other than the name Joyboy and his apparent role. Kaido has no idea where Yamato heard it. "

its comical you can read yamato dropped joyboy's name but cant read the part after reveals the sort of information kaido got from yamato . yes kaido doesnt know where she got it from but that isnt relevant to your question.

this is what you asked which I have provided answers for

"why is he remembering getting sold out by his government and not actually anything else related to Joyboy?"- same thing occured with king the wildfire before his promise to not lose as he lost to zoro . it's called buildup .

"We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets." - yes we do .yamato mentioned joyboy's name . where did the kid hear that name... apparently oden's desire was to open up the borders to welcome joyboy . this is what kaido found out from yamato who got this from the journal. kaido realizes if oden is right , joyboy will turn up in wano.

find it funny you are saying no . you are prob just looking for any reason to think there is no conclusion:rolaugh:

1. The source of Yamato's statement would validate the relevance of bringing it up. You say the flashback's ending is important but it ends with Kaido mentioning his dumbass kid pulling out a random assertion with no apparent basis? When he'd known about Joyboy from his own findings for years by that point?

2. Being sold out builds up what? That has nothing to do with fighting Luffy, lmao.

3. "If Oden's right." Oden never once mentioned Joyboy to Kaido, Yamato did. But Kaido doesn't know that Yamato had the journal of Oden, so that's not the same as knowing it's actually what Oden believed.

4. "Any reason" when it comes to a conclusion is thinking that Kaido accepts defeat and it's over, that not even awakening can save him. When the truth is that Luffy accepted defeat

Only for his awakening to unconsciously put him back into the fight

1. wasnt relevant to your question so I dont care . I answered your question .
2. if you could read it establishes kaido's goal , the world he wants to create ( the question which he asked luffy before he got taken down) . at the start he says

at the end he starts asking what kind of world luffy wants to create

3. never once said oden mentioned joyboy to kaido . I know however yamato got the information from oden . its clear kaido sees what yamato said as oden's ambition . he doesnt know the source but he believes it .

4.

"when it comes to a conclusion is thinking that Kaido accepts defeat and it's over, that not even awakening can save him. When the truth is that Luffy accepted defeat"

rofl does this panel make you cry

winner of decisive battle in the skies

1. For the record, I have no idea why you keep saying "your question."
your question was "We have no idea why he even thinks Joyboy would be someone he meets."
Underlined emphasis is mine. That's called a statement, not a question lol. You can generally tell them apart because one ends with a period and the other ends with a question mark. They also tend to start with different words but I won't confuse you with all that basic English now.

2. Kaido as a political pawn leading to his goals and putting his ability at odds to change the world with Luffy's ability and desire checks out.

3. Kaido believes it although it goes against the entire way he's lived before and after, and does nothing to change the his treatment of Yamato; he still actually tries to persuade Yamato to work for him during their ultimate encounter. Also, watching Luffy come back by miracle for the third time doesn't even lead him to believe he'll lose lol.

4. No, it proves my point. The fact that a winner is stated facilitates the story but doesn't tell us what happens next, as evidenced by Kaido being declared the winner in the first place. The "Kessen winner" in this case tells us that Luffy vs Kaido is finished and that the Beast pirates' battle is over. Whatever happens next simply won't contradict those, but that leaves a lot on the table.

Oh, and if you believed someone landed a killing blow on you, yeah you accepted defeat lmao. Kaido said less last chapter, but here you are.

I called it a question cause it was clearly something you didnt know the answer to even after reading the chapter
spare me the english lesson.few days ago I had to explain to you kaido could be defeated without dying.

rest of your garbage is of no business to me . post the truth as you said where luffy accepted his own defeat or piss off . Next quote from you without a panel proving that "truth" will just be ignored.

You're mad that I literally posted a page showing Luffy stating that he lost if Kong Gun didn't finish it, and that he thought Kaido had killed him lol. I was also going to post the scene of Luffy struggling to stay on Gear 4 near the end of 1042 but it seemed a little redundant.

And the statement by nature is rhetorical. If you assume it's a question even though nothing's being asked, you also have to contend with the point that the other person isn't accepting an "answer." You're not the writer of the story, just another guy on the message board, so there's nothing you can provide on your own.

lol the bloke is still going
Yeah it's easy man, LMAO. I don't have to shut down my entire point, because I have confidence in my reasoning.

Kaido doesn't explicitly say that he's Joyboy, but years before the journal even leaves Oden, he states that he is the only one who can change world. Whether or not he thinks he's Joyboy, he puts himself in the effective role.

Later he suggests explicitly that the idea that he's Joyboy is questionable. We can still tell that this was before Yamato finds the journal because of his facial hair.

So even if Yamato somehow convinced him that Joyboy is the one who will come to Wano, we have no clue about the time he learned of Joyboy, and how he came to believe that he is not the only one who can change the world. Oda hasn't rectified his beliefs with the respective falls of Rocks, Roger, Oden, or Whitebeard. We also have no insight into his conflict with Shanks.

You're not actually ignoring me if you make passive aggressive little comments. It all just comes off as a white flag. Lanji with his Ls.

No, they just got spouted out with the eruption.

Big Mom this time will be the one to flee, in contrast to Kaido fleeing in Rocks War.

Kaido: "Are you kidding me? Where did you go you old hag?"

Everyone vs the final boss Kaido.

Capital will be in ruins.

Alliance top members are all recovering.

We are still in Act III.

It has felt easy so far for the alliance side.

The bad news is coming.

Many will die finally.

We will now enter the "Kuma" phase.

This is my hopium.

ZKK until Wano officially ends.

Lets go!!!
