Didn't whitebeard himself said to teach that it's not him that Roger waiting for. Devy Jones and Joy boy are the two different era that fight IMU and lost the last era is Luffy.

Or, Teach just let's Luffy and Imu fight, and then waits for the right time to try and kill them.

Yeah, this is a possibility, I simply don't see a team-up happening due to Luffy's history with Teach.

However, I think Teach will solo Imu.

Oda likes parallels, so tag team vs Imu is likely to repeat imo.
And then, as people already mentioned, we can get Luffy vs BB Naruto-style, which is not ideal, but as to me BB is a more interesting character, I would prefer him to be the final villain.

I would actually enjoy Imu being defeated due to teamwork, so maybe it's not just Luffy & BB, but also Buggy, admirals, etc, kinda everyone against Imu, with Luffy & BB being the last ones standing like Roger & Garp now.

It's possible they team up especially if bb finds out the truth of his father. Imo they will both play a role in imu down fall.

Honestly I dont interpret it that way.

Injust see it as Joyboy and Davy were the 2 threats against Imu, thats it. It does not mean they need to team up or anything, it just means both are viable to do it. Obviously there's only 1 protagonist in this story.

Its like Kaido thinking he was Joyboy. He wasnt and lost. Teach will think his Davy clan will topple the WG and he'll control the world. He wont because he'll lose
