General & Others At what point does "inspiration" become close to "ripping off"?

It is a bunch of standalone ideas and concepts placed into a new setting spread out over 1000+ chapters. Big woop. I am going to take a wild guess and say that Caribbean Joyboy probably never fought 7 Warlords, 4 Emperors etc etc?
Joy Boy and Wano Atlantis is not standalone. They are central topics of the story. I consider that ripping off. If your work constantly needs to google other people's ideas than that is ripping off to me. Just because Caribbean Joy Boy didn't fight 7 Warlords doesn't mean it isn't ripping off. At some point, you need to create your own ideas instead of constantly looking for sources.

Nobody has copyright on mythology and Tom and Jerry doesn't have a monopoly on cartoon physics. None of this is "someone else's work".
No one here is going to sue Oda dude. I am discussing a topic in a forum. Not sure what your comment of "copy right of cartoon physics" is suppose to be about? G5 is taken from Tom and Jerry, Oda literally admitted to that. Are you saying because it technically isn't exactly copyright because no one copyrighted cartoon physics therefore we shouldn't criticize? That is silly.

Are we also going to criticise Oda for having Giants? Fairy like creatures in the Tontatta Dwarfs? Beast folk? Centaurs and a harpy? Where does this end?
Those are character designs my guy. There is a difference between character designs and ideas. If he is going to use ideas of Giants from a literature source then yes we should consider it.

Look, if you want to see how taking inspiration from various real life cultures and putting them together with fantasy elements ends up with a new setting, look at the setting of Warhammer Fantasy.

There isn't a whole lot of "pure" originality in Warhammer Fantasy. It doesn't rely on that. It takes a boatload of inspiration from the real world, blends some cultures together from different time periods, adds some fantasy races and the interactions between all these factions ends up creating a new world with a new history that entertains people.
I never read Warhammer Fantasy so I can't comment on this. There are appropriate ways of including ideas into your own, maybe Warhammer falls into this so I can't comment.

Wano and Skypeia backstory were basically a copy of, "Plato's, Atlantis". WCI theme was basically, "Alice in Wonderland". Ancient weapons are based off Greek mythology stories. G5 is from Tom & Jerry. Joy Boy from west Africa story. Many examples like this.

It is fine to look for inspiration and add them to your story, however, your entire story can't be constantly looking for other stories for "inspiration". There is a fine line between "inspiration" and "ripping off". At what point does "inspiration" become "ripping off"?

Indeed and there's so much more. Like the 7 warlords.

At this point Oda has become a character from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint that defeats his enemies and takes their stories. Or maybe more precise a constellation that eats up others' stories.

Love the energy lee33. Though it's up in the air whether or not Oda's plagiarizing or simply taking inspiration from other works, but he'd do a much better job saving the world from pollution than being a writer because this old ass fraud recycle the same damn idea almost every arc.

Zunesha came to Wano to say two words and then dip. Toki from the void century reduced down to a baby making machine for Oden. Fraud of a writer, playing with his readers and yet they defend him nonstop.

You're just shooting aimlessly now. And you have a Naruto avatar. I mean come on. Do you want to be taken seriously or was this a joke thread all along?

Dude we get it, you want to drag one piece to Naruto level. But oda is just levels above kishi. Kishi just follows others and he even follows his fans. Fans wanted Naruto to be hokage after ts so he made Gaara raikage. Lol he just cheapened MCs goal. That's how bad kishi is. He doesn't know what the fuck he's doing that's why he just copied everything hunter x has.

Why are people so butthurt by threads like these 😂
Because they are full of shit created by a petty nardotard (they can delete this part Idc) like @lee33, who obviously has an ulterior motive by these. If Oda's doing plagiarism, what about Naruto who straight copied stuff from HxH? Both series use others as inspiration; some might use more references, other ones maybe less. It doesn't mean that these references are weak rip-offs - or just call it by name, plagiarism - or anything similar. Authors use inspirations ALL THE TIME. Hell, the newest Zelda game is highly inspired by Ghibli films and it is by no means a rip-off of the movies either although there are some high references. Final Fantasy 16, another AAA title which is highly inspired by other games (Asura's Wrath, Devil May Cry and so on). Also, about Lee's credibility: I mean, just read this:

Now, let us all hail to Kishimoto our lord and savior. We miss you Kishi.
I seriously question the credibility of the OP.
He is one of these extreme fanboys who constantly argue about "Hah my fav series is better than yours and this is why" and it's so painfully obvious. Now it's just the question when he starts comparing Naruto with Bleach also lol...
Imo such discussions are always pure shit because each shounen series has its weaknesses and good points, even something like MHA. And disingenuous "criticism" isn't doing the apparent weak points of the criticised manga any favor.

Additionally, just like @DarkWitch said. If the manga annoys you so much, why not doing a break or - even better - simply stop engaging in discussions within an OP forum? Or just drop the manga altogether? Why force reading through arcs which are 0 interesting? For example, I started doing breaks after Wano and in the middle of Egghead Island arc when it was unbearable but then started reading again when it was interesting again for me. I mean, how braindead can someone be? I don't go in narutoforums/fanverse and constantly bitch about how shitty Boruto or Naruto's last arc is (and that's still mild compared to the mental gymnastics which this dude is doing) - because I'm just ranting about a certain series in a forum whose activity is highly depending on said series. Another example, Chrono literally stopped his activity. He knows how to do it. When Fairy Tail was too much for me, I also stopped reading that.
It's just fucking annoying when you constantly read the same repetitive BS from someone who simply can't let it go.

Lol the "all hail Kishi our lord and savior" was a joke. It was meant to mock the people on here who keep talking about Naruto when I didn't even bring it up.
Sure, it is a "joke" - alright :kuzanshut:

I will delete my account if give me one example of wano being similar other than being sunken Island because there are thousands of sunken island in history and mythology.
Wano is isolationist, Atlantis was expansionist.
Atlantis was sunk by the gods, Wano was sunk due to the barriers.
Wano's civilization still thrived afterwards, Atlantis went extinct.
Oh yeah who doesn't remember all the samurais and ninjas of Atlantis
:gokulaugh:
