After all these years i have just started AoT out of curiosity lol, part of what made me catch up with this is how everyone is talking about how awful the ending is.
I'm currently at chapter 60 (or whatever the chapter was when Levi fights Kenny lol).

Finally done with it. Well, whether that rumbling, mindfucking ending is good or not for me, i feel like it became irrelevant the moment that furry motherfucker was finally gone lol.

In hindsight I feel like this was actually a good ending.
Eldia being destroyed makes sense. If Eren actually succeeded in creating peace then Isayama would essentially be portraying genocide as a legitimate solution to a problem.
But I think real life shows this is rarely the case.
I think a lot of people get tripped up because they want Eren to be the hero like he was in the past arcs, but the final arc is very different from the rest of the story. Whereas the previous arcs was about killing monsters, the final arc depicts a conflict between nations. It’s inherently more complicated than good guy vs bad guy.
