Bro ushi is not giraffe. As I said it is the model that matters at the end. Model defines the fruit like human model BUDHA or bird model PHOENIX
Ushi means cow. Giraffe & cows are both ungulates, so look back far enough & there is a relation.

What I'm asking is was Kaido EVER JUST A FISH? Was there ever any point where his fruit would've been considered useless because he was an aquatic animal who couldn't swim?
Personally, overcoming that would add a lot more gravity to his title as World's Strongest Creature

& if he just skipped to dragon, my question is why classify it as anything but dragon? Why not just call it the Seiryu-Seiryu fruit?

Does not change the fact that cow is a different type of animal than girrafe lol. Oda never once referenced the whole fish thing and as I said it is the model of the fruit that matters. If you think his DF was fish then it changed to dragon its fine but its baseless

I'm not talking out of my ass here; Eastern dragons and fishes are closely related beyond the only myth the fandom knows about the carp turning into a ryu because of Pokémon, to the point ancient thesaurus put them together in the same category of Ryougo.

I mean, dragons have been consistently put in an aquatic context in this very story since day one, whether it's the dragons in Arabasta's bathroom, the Ryugu Kingdom, Luffy comparing Momonosuke to an eel (so to a fish, not a snake) or now Seiryu being a model of the Fish-Fish family. Heck, Oda's own bathroom is ryu-themed; just imagine how aquatic he finds dragons.

Again, I don't know what's so weird about a creature with carp scales, lobster eyes and catfish whiskers that primarily has an aquatic symbolism (as per experts like Chevalier), is put in the "Dragons and fishes" category in ancient thesaurus and has been visually compared to a fish instead of a reptile in One Piece being included in the "fish" family.

Whatever. My problem is more with any aquatic related creature being involved because of the most established weakness in the series. If a Seiryu is supposed to be a sea serpent with ANY aquatic abilities, then Kaido was never operating at full power & never could. Lame

At this point I wouldn't be surprised either way. I always assumed he was awakened because he was at the top of the pirate world but who knows oda could say in a sbs later that he wasn't awakened although I doubt it, I find it more likely that if he ever answers that question we will find out for sure that he was awakened.

I also think Yamato is awakened.
