No. Like I explained already in this thread previously, the protagonist of the story does not need to be the hero, the good guy, etc. It's just the most common formula.

has been a great villain so far. Can’t wait for the final fight between him and Shiki just now starting

Before Ziggy, Drakken Joe was another great villain and in Mashima’s previous work Rave, King was one of the best tragic villains in Shounen

Yeah, he was great, 8/10, a lonely person with twisted mindset always make a great villain.
