Can someone give the the lowdown on wtf is going on with this series? Why does burrito look like a cyborg and why is he attacking Sasuke now (and how is he able to do so?). I stopped reading this shit sometime after Kawaki was introduced and Naruto fought some hooded chick with technology powers 
Allegedly nothing. Boruto wasn't nearly as successful as Naruto so there would be not too much reason to drag this longer, with the only aftermath of risking an original masterpiece being trashed around. Even money wise, it will never be the same.
I don't expect something like a "Boruto Shippuden" so. I bet the series will end with around as many volumes and episodes the first original Naruto had.
