A lot of people like to claim that Mihawk carries cross Guild, as he is the strongest member. And while he is the strongest, imo Cross Guild is only as dangerous as it is because of the 3 principle members: Mihawk, Crocodile, Buggy.

It’s like the chapter hinted;
Crocodile = Wealth
Buggy = Fame
Mihawk = Power

Mihawk might be powerful, but he has no charisma, nor even any ambition( as he already achieved his goal to be WSSM). Mihawk by himself could never amass the army that Buggy did via his luck and charisma. And as we know, having a powerful crew is an integral part of being yonko.

But even with Buggy’s crew, he still needed funds from Crocodile in order to get his business started. Crocodile is a schemer, he is the brains of the organization, with Cross Guild being his idea.

Ultimately, due to his influence, Buggy is an integral and valuable part of Cross Guild. Cross Guild is an organization that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Yeah as much as Hawk and Croc hate him, Buggy is actually being really influential to make their group a success.

Hell even his proclamation about the One Piece will not only boost morale, but also probably make more people join them once word gets out that they're supposedly aiming for it.
More manpower, funding and influence thanks to Buggy.

Buggy accelerates it but is not needed.
Cross guild have old men killing rear admirals for money. With the state of the world and people in need who would hate the navy and wg for Cd tribute tax they would amass a support anyway.

Great thread. It's like you described.

Crocodile is more of a Mafia type like Capone, Doflamingo and Big Mom.

Mihawk is a wrongly classified bounty hunter. It would actually have made sense if Mihawk had been WSS and WSBH. Zoro fits this category as well

Buggy is at heart the one true pirate of CG who up close saw the GOATS do it like Roger, WB, Shiki and so on.

They have ambition and willpower to lead everyone who's not on their level or equal to them.

They got the power to lead, the wealth to sustain their plans & men /islands and fame to gain more manpower

Buggy only lacks true power to be better than Mihawk by far

i think WB's ambition (even though it might seem strange to use this word here) was to be a good father figure. he asked ace if he had been a good father. might seem like not exactly a 'grand' dream but there aren't many good fathers in the OP-verse and it's not necessarily easy to be one so...

They keep joining when they here the captain sailed with Roger. He is integral for sure. Without him Cross Guild would be a mid outfit like Baroqe works or the yontamaria flight that juined Luffy's army.
Heck Buggy is/will be the catalyst for them participating properly in the final throne wars.
