No, Luffy can't. Even though the current Luffy has figured out how to properly use flowing/barrier haki that doesn't mean he will be able to use it on Zoro's level defensively to protect others.
Enma has force Zoro to learn to control large amounts of haki.
Kaidou still puts Luffy above Zoro... that much is telling.
I've been thinking about this for a minute trying to figure out what Oda is doing. We all know that Kaido is waiting for a monster samurai to fight. Based on Zoro's feats, which includes but are not limited to blocking hakai and scarring Kaido with a Asura mode attack, why haven't he given Zoro the recognition that he deserve. I finally realized it's because he doesn't know Zoro's ambitions like he does Luffy.
Kaido knows Luffy wants to be Pirate King and it's because of that he gives Luffy a lot of respect and places him on a high level. Especially after Luffy learned how to injury him and use CoC in his attacks. That's part of reason he's currently disappointed in Luffy.
With Zoro, Kaido does not know his ambitions. At this time, Kaido considers Zoro just one of Luffy's subordinates and that's the reason he doesn't acknowledge Zoro strength or compare him to Oden when he scarred him. If he would have known that Zoro wants to be the WSS he would put him on the same level as Luffy.
This reminds me a lot of when the Straw Hats faced Kuma. Kuma didn't see Zoro as having equal value as Luffy until he learned Zoro wants to be the WSS.
