A satisfying, comprehensive ending is pretty much the only way to salvage the back half of this series, but even then, this fandom consecrated the pre-timeskip era so long ago that it hardly matters at this point :bamathink:
I remember Mr Morj saying that the Strawhats were more Disturbed at Luffy's defeat to Crocodile than to Kaido recently. Even though Chopper handled it well in Alabasta but had a mental breakdown in Wano.

The Fandom is filled with People who either Speedread/Wiki read the pre Timeskip or have a massively Nostalgic filter for it.

People don't realise that 90% of the stuff they hate in the Post Timeskip always existed

Oda was ALWAYS a maximalist writer who would rather draw a party than a fight scene

This is what I want to say also. There's plenty of good if you remember Skypiea as a whole or just skim through the meat of it, but the fight with Ener fucking sucked at the time. Moria was more like Boria and I dropped the manga for months, even though the ending of the arc was phenomenal.

So many years into OP, there's a lot to see through the lens of nostalgia and a lot to take for granted now.

It already has. You think people wouldn't have been complaining bored about the 10 chapters spent on the bomb plot in Alabasta or the 30+ chapters of fodder battles in Skypiea? My god, people were already saying OP was the worst back at the beginning of Enies Lobby and all we got were 20+ chapters of sea train fodder fights and then Luffy vs fodder in enies Lobby for another 15 chapters.

They would have called Robin's flashback boring, entirely complaining about not getting to the fights right away. A 3.5 chapter Nami vs Kalifa fight? While Zoro and Sanji get 2 only? Enies Lobby 2.5/10 for that alone /s

I've consistently found the supporting characters of post timeskip arcs to be way better than pre-timeskip. Every arc, a one or multiple Supernova have been central to the plot. The Strawhat fleet is great and has a lasting affect on the plot overall. The scabbards for example are WAY more interesting than the Franky family or Galley-La

The fights have also just been way more creative too. Gear 4 overall is a better powerup than 2 and 3. Robin's new fighting techniques, Franky and Brook's new applications to their powers. Usopp having CoO. Sanji being lightning fast. Zoro having CoC and pulling off some amazing feats. Really, everyone has been upgraded completely. The only one who I believe has gotten worse is Chopper, and this arc isn't doing him justice still at all. Usopp is kind of iffy right now, but his whole arc in DR makes up for this, something Chopper does not have.

Not only that, but post timeskip just has less chapters at this time and yet the plot has been fuller and more important to the endgame of the series. Pre-timeskip is way more about the adventure. Post has been about setting up the massive endgame to the series. Even at this rate, we still have way more to go beyond Kaido. A lot needs to be tackled and it's not even fair to compare Post-Timeskip as a whole yet, because it's set up to be way bigger than pre-timeskip and it hasn't remotely seen that payoff yet. Even without that, it's still way better.

People also can't sit here and tell me that Zou, ch 903-908, 925, and 956/957 aren't some of the greatest chapters Oda has ever put out. And it only gets better from here because all of those chapters HAVE to do with the endgame and what it building towards

lmao facts. cant believe oda fell off so far from east blue with this grand line filler shit. thriller bark doesnt even have real fights. a skeleton? oda really running out of ideas for crew, straw hats jumped the shark. and dont get me started on that boring ass sabaody, sideline every character for the luffy show and introduce 10 new guys who are never going to be important smh.

It can once everything gets revealed because, assuming it is done well, there is so much investment in the mysteries.

Narratively Oda, while having highlights here and there (Law backstory and duality with Doflamingo for example), has not been able to reach pre-TS heights.

People claiming it´s no different than post-TS are talking nonsense.

Don't show Black G4 Luffy... Idiots believe Red Haki is a thing. And don't even think about showing normal skin color G4 Luffy because haki is actually invisible.

Post TimeSkip was doing fine until WCI. Then it started to go down and down until One Piece became what 6th or 7th best selling manga of the year.

Pre-timeskip had issues to, one piece was never perfect. Post-timeskip is bad not because pre-timeskip is that good, but because post-timeskip is that bad. Post-timeskip is so bad (mainly Wano and WCI) that Chinese monhoua looks ingenious compared to it.
