Unless it's for gag plot, I doubt he'd even manage to transform him. Zoro almost always keeps his guard up, best recent example is sleep diffing Kaku.
Also he can establish a CoA barrier faster than the speed of an explosion
The problem with this argument is they never tried to counter it. Nowhere in the manga do we see them in battle gather and release a lot of haki to counter their DF.
