Speculations Chapters 990-1000 could rival end of Marineford?

500 was Rayleigh. Thats a pretty big one too IMO.
I think it will surpass it only that the PIS should be way lower and many people will have definitive endings through their battles. The number of important characters is definitely less, but the epicness and the clashes should be bigger than Marineford IMO.

One thing that holds me back from thinking it will be a massive big chapter is that it's going to be smack in the middle of a volume, and Oda usually likes the big moment to be at the end.
Like if we look at Chapter 500, sure Ray showing up was big, but the biggest moment of the volume came two chapters later to finish it off, when Luffy punched Charloss. That was the actual climax of the arc.
If there's something he has in mind he might try and stretch or rush things to get it there, but the way the pacing seems to be going it doesn't really seem likely. Luffy's pretty much right in front of Kaido right now and the war has begun, it's hard to think that Oda can delay something big between the two for thirteen chapters.
A mid arc interlude chapter (all of which have been hype as fuck) or a beginning/ending of an arc seems the only thing that would really fit.

This arc will only rival Marineford IF:
1- This upcoming few chapters had Kaido massacre the alliance and hand them a BIG DEFEAT... and Luffy look like he gets demolished...
2- Another important thing is Kaido and Big mom taking away BOTH of (Robin and Chopper) away from the strawhats... Robin because they will need her for reading the poneglyphs copies, for their ambitious (Ancient Weapons and One Piece).... Chopper because he can pique the interest of BOTH Big Mom and Kaido... as Big Mom sees him as interesting for being talking animal... Kaido because Chopper can represent what "beast pirates are"... AND his rumble ball plot/science can be expanded upon... so kaido might feel he's useful...
Also, Robin has a SOFT SPOT for Chopper... so basically, Robin normally would NOT cooperate with Big Mom/Kaido and read poneglyph for them... BUT she may do so forcefully for the time being UNTIL Luffy comes back for the counter... so Robin might play along for Big Mom/kaido not to hurt Chopper or pressure her by that... Again, Robin has a soft spot for Chopper
Oda can give back some screen time for those two characters who have been LACKING in every way... TOP TWO underused Strawhats post-timeskip, yet top two most vital which is weird!
Involving a strawhat in this dilimma is SO IMPORTANT to top Marineford... because Wano simply has less intensity BECAUSE the people who are at stake are "Momonosuke/ Red Scabbard" they are friends with Luffy, but they DO NOT COME CLOSE to Ace's importance to Luffy
After Luffy lost Ace... Oda specifically made sure to note out that Luffy still has his nakama... meaning it is ONLY by involving his NAKAMA... that things can get AS INTENSE AS Marineford for Luffy and crew... Momonosuke? Kinemon? Red Scabbard dying? Luffy would never be as angry/frustrated as he was in Marineford... only way is thorugh involving Nakama in this dilimma.... TWO Strawhats would be great way to make Luffy and crew get SO SERIOUS and intense and for us viewers to CARE

Wano will never be as great as Marineford since it has post timeskip Luffy.
Post timeskip Luffy is much dumber, worse in battle and never takes anythimg seriously.

Arlong Park Luffy nearly got his crew killed due to his stupidity, many other occasions of him being sloppy or dumb before, the problem is the elongated length of arcs making the consequences of these dumb moments last for 5x the length they previously did and so stand out more.
The issue is he is too powerful for 99% of the scenarios he is in so he has to be plot nerfed and PIS nerfed, just like Big Mom.

I don't like these "special" chapter numbers thing. The story should have nothing to do with such meaningless thing as chapter numbers.
Authors aren't going to plan special events in the story just to coincide with a chapter number. So 1000 doesn't mean anything in the op world, but it's a huge milestone in the real world for the author.
More likely we'll just be getting a colored page and thank you from Oda. The story just goes the direction it was going.
