Case 1:
There’s is literally an entire chapter of Kidd complaining about being “useless” before using his awakening.
There’s a 99% chance that Oda and/or his editors gauged that fans were underwhelmed/complaining about Kidd’s performance on the rooftop before storyboarding the chapter.
His dialogue is literally reflective of and referencing fan sentiment.
Case 2:
Marco frequently wonders why he’s in Wano and what his role will be both when fighting against Big Mom and on the live floor.
Both the fandom (and maybe even Oda himself) had no idea why the hell Marco was in the arc from a narrative standpoint.
Marco’s dialogue is a subtle reference to Oda’s own uncertainty towards the character’s role in the arc.
