General & Others Characters that are supposed to be sympathetic or admirable, but you have no sympathy or respect for

#43
Kaidou. Shouldve been both sympathtic and admirable to back up that WSC powerlevel...but apparently Oda doesnt know anymore how to build a character personality :josad:

Sengoku in marineford for all the dirty tactics he employed against WB who was trying to save his son. I could not care less about his fb in dressrosa where he lost adoptive son although I love Corazon

Can you explain why it was awful? And why he was an absolute retard for having that dilemma?
I think it makes him an awful grandfather to choose his job over his family especially when he knows his organization doesn't actually stand for justice which is why he refused the promotion to Admiral in the first place.

And then he had the nerve to get mad at Akainu for killing Ace when he was just sitting there the first time it was about to happen.

Oden. 10000000% Oden. Literally every character we’re supposed to like is deep-throating his cock even though he is objectively a retarded, horrendous leader whose fuckups have potentially caused permanent ecological catastrophe in his own country. The story tells us that we should feel sorry for him - nay - wholeheartedly agree with him because he couldn’t bring himself to sacrifice a hundred people to save millions. He is also incredibly unlikeable, likely riddled with STDs for being a huge cumslut and we’re supposed to think he’s the biggest Chad in the series. Fuck that shit.

Yamato is another garbage fire character. Nothing about her makes any sense. She despises her father but can’t seem to stop introducing herself in relation to her father and copied his moveset and fighting style despite also wanting to be Oden? She’s 28 with the emotional intelligence of a congenitally deformed snail that doesn’t seem to realise that running after a child and pretending to be his deceased father is not in fact how sane, reasonable individuals are supposed to act. If Kaido had beaten her a few more times, he might have been able to cure her terminal brain damage perhaps.
Sheesh.

I don't have to say anything more.

Both his lack of parenting and idiocy of loyalty to his job are ridiculous.

Garp tried to push this "why did you become a pirate bro" bullshit onto Ace when the reality is he would have been hunted down like and killed by the WG simply because of his name. What makes matters even worse is Ace was just a "regular" pirate, hes not a blackbeard nor is he a kidd who is mass murdering people.

It would be one thing if the WG were truly good or Garp was actually trying to change the org but neither of those things are true, Garp is well aware of the CDs and the misdeeds of the organization.

So a granfather is meant to turn on his friends that he's been with for over decades, that he's shed sweat, blood, and tears with... because his grandson at a grown ass age.. made the decision to choose a path... that would ultimately lead them to be against his grandfather?

Basically you can be any type of a child/grandchild you want, you can willingly go against your granfather... and your grandfather is meant to abandon everything he's worked for his entire life, his friends, his reputation, his organization... over you? Even though you chose to become an underling of a dude that goes against your grandfather??

Sounds pretty entitled.

What kind of moron dedicates his entire life to an organization he doesn’t actually believe in and thinks of as the puppets of the Celestial Dragons? Why does he feel so strongly about the Marines? What outcome did he expect when he left the son of the Pirate King with mountain bandits?

Who sits and watches as their grandson is about to be executed but then needs to be held back when someone from the organization he dedicated his entire life to, actually does his job and executes that grandson?

- That is not true. The World Government realized who he was and boosted his bounty higher than it should be and then gave him the offer to join as a Warlord. Ace denied that and chose to side with the biggest Mafia boss around.

- Yes and he is also well aware that 90%+ of the pirates of the world are criminals who raid/loot/and run crime syndicates...He while does not have the power to go against the World Government, he still believes it to better than being a pirate. Just as good man Luffy who loves people, is responsible for raiding Impel Down, and letting out henious criminals into the world that run major crime syndicates...like a mass murderer like Crocodile who's responsible for hundreds of deaths in Alabasta over the course of many years. Have you ever said anything against that??? Squardo attacked the Roger pirates, yet WB had him as one of his underling.

Good man Roger, is responsible for starting an age of piracy that brought vast criminals to the waters that were raiding and looting islands.
Good man Whitebeard, is responsible for starting a 2nd age of piracy, the aftermath of which was immideatly felt with pirates raiding and looting islands like Alabasta...

Are you holding them accountable for those things?? Or do they bear no responsibility?

We don't know what Garp's plans regarding the World Government itself are. We don't know how he became a marine. All we know is he keeps in touch with his son on a regular basis, his son that is standing against the World Government. For all we know he's simply waiting for Dragon to finish up what he needs to before the all out war..

The only "good guys" in this series are the RA. Literally everybody else has something fucked up.

What are some characters that the story tries to paint as sympathetic, nice, respectful or even worthy of admiration but that you don't feel any, or little at best, for them due to how hypocritical, unlikeable and/or overhyped these characters are ?

I don't have any sympathy or respect for Yasopp for having abandonned his wife and his son, yet the story tries to paint him as admirable for having chosen to become a pirate and Usopp idolizes him.

I also find Hancock to be quite hypocritical and unsympathetic, with her backstory failing to be an excuse for her misandry and behavior to my taste, given how many Celestial Dragons are female and how many slaves are male with her savior being a man and a fishman who has every reason to hate humans and yet freed her and her sisters.
Yasopp is a piece of shit but I sort of see why Hancock is like that.
She shouldn't be kicking puppies though. Kind of a douche move.
The kicking animals thing kind of made her deserve getting choked out by BB.
