Schools closed until 15th march in all Italy. In my area at that point it will be 3 weeks since the schools were closed and it is possible that it will be extended. People above 75 yo have to stay home, same goes for 65+ with a cold or worse. Avoid crowds, 1 meter as minmum safety distance, no hand shakes etc.

The one about schools is a really heavy measure but I guess it is a necessity. The government didn't decide it on his own of course but with the advice of a scientific committee. The main problem we face, and so the ratio of this action, is to not put too much of a burden on the healthcare system aka since 1/10 of the people who get the virus are put in intesive care that can become too much to bear if the contagion spreads too much.

The problem is other countries are not checking effectively as the Italians are doing . We will never know the exact figures because government around the world fear the catastrophic effect on the economy .

Chinese have silenced their media channels about the exact figure we no longer trust their Government when they say Wuhan cases have drastically dropped , Xi JinPing is a twat no wonder he is such a failure Unlike the Chinese counterpart the Italian government are not shying away and are actually concerned about their citizen's welfare .

Yes, we are doing a lot more controls than the other countries and now we are taking extreme measures. Yesterday evening the govern isolated a good portion of the north Italy along with Lombardia and of course Milan which is the economic capital of our country along with other provinces like Venice's. Millions of people. But even if we are doing it at out best and not hiding infos, or at least less than other countires, we are nonetheless running after the virus. There are a lot of people who have it but don't have any effects or that have yet to manifest them that are going around unaware. A demonstration of this is that our supposed death rate for the virus is 4%, higher than the China, that is impossible so the most likely explanation is that we have not found nearly all the infected (otherwise that 4% wouldn't be a 4% but most likely less than 1% like it is in other places). It is also to note that Italy's population is pretty old on average yet the same can be said for other places like South Korea. Even the leader of Italy's dem party took the virus but it seems he is fine and doesn't need to go to hospital. Yet it seems that controls in airports, both italian and europeans at least, are still non existent like some people underline.

Anyway at this point France and Germany have found their hotbeds too and it spreading in America and a lot of other places too, it will not be long that it will be considered a pandemy. Some other studies even suggest that the virus was already here in Italy, despite we took harder measures than other countries from the start aka jenuary 2020, since november 2019.

The economy is a problem right now, our main partners (Germany and France along with other Euro countries) are putting up barriers which is right (we did the same with China at first and now the world is doing this with us) yet at this point it is useless at least for the european ones. Also another problem was that we lacked as industry the basic components that are pretty much all produced in China and also now with this inner bloackade we put up it will be a big problem (Milan counts millions of people alone who have their needs). So in the next future I can at least see a more diversification of the primary manufactures since until now we were basing all that on China and when this problem erupted all that was cut down. To make an example we lacked bolts because all that kind of production was bought from China.

About other measures: kepp a distance of 2 meters with other people, no shaking of hands or kisses, don't touch your eyes, mouth, nose with your hands (better avoid the face at all at this point), wash your hands often, avoid crowds. Then all the serie A football matches have been closed to the audiance but they will be put on on the national TV and not only on pay tv, this to avoid crowds of people in the stadiums or bars yet mantain football matches to at least cheer up people a bit (yet if some player is found positive there is the chance it will all be shut down).

My country is falling to pieces. I'm sure you guys must have heard something very recently
Don't be so mad Final, we are tooking extreme countermeasures but it is better this way than doing nothing or too less.

Another problem is that despite we put these new red zones a lot of people are already violating them (not to count who does their usual routine despite the virus and the safety countermeasures put up aka movidas, go to dance etc.) to make an example I just read the government yesterday evening put up the red zone of Lombardia and so Milan: the train station was assaulted by people to come back to their families despite the closure (Milan is a metropoly and a lot of people who lives there is original from other places in Italy) and these are problems which make this kind of measures almost useless... The matter is that with this kind of situation a lot of responsibility is put on single people's shoulders and is sufficient one moron to ruin everything for everybody and sadly we have way more than one of that kind.

You live in Naples, right? How much does this affect you?

Consider case per population ratio, Italy, South Korea, and Iran had it worse than China.
Naples isn't that affected yet, very less compared to North Italy. But chaos is about to explode since people from North are trying to migrate plus this virus is a tough one and it expands at the speed of light :D

In my country, people are getting back in masse from Korea so I kinda get how that feels. I think things will get better in time, the lockdown works for the Chinese.

@Kingslayer Thank you, even if countries like Germany or France have blocked the export of masks, but I can't blame them considered the situation. It is like Italy itself, at first we blocked all the flies from China (but of course people managed to come to Italy with intermediate stops) and now we are complaining because everybody is doing the same with us. If not for anything else this is the nth time Europe failed to act as a confederation.

Yet I am glad that we have this government right now like for other aspects, it could have been way worse.
