There is absolutely no need for "damage control", on the contrary, certain people like you simply have the malicious drive to seek something negative or to do harm to someone based on some trivial little scene, thereby twisting the manga and having nothing at all to do with the intentions. Since this has become a long-lasting tradition in the cesspits online makes people think this is part of canon, when it's not. Also a kind of self-flattery, which is always part of "communities".

You automatically assume Whitebeard was "sweating" because he couldn't keep up the strength. Yet Whitebeard is no empty bonehead (like perhaps some one-sided readers) and the situation itself and the character of Oden seemed highly strange to him and made a big impression on him. His expression clearly shows that. There is no sign that he couldn't keep up the strength, it's more psychological. It seems likely that the combination of the confusion or impression, along with the strength exertion may have quickened the sweat. Oda probably suggests something along these lines and doesn't care to decide exactly hhow much wa what. Then there is also the element that Oden could probably be named "the physically strongest swordsman", and ultimately WB doesn't style himself as a "swordsman" at all, and that in such an unequal fight of technique, the attack could further have made a contribution to the "physical" next to the psychological side, which is still the main point of storytelling.
Oda is saying: Oden is damn strong. Whitebeard is confused by his character and announcement, while the speed and strength of the attack also require serious effort (because Oden is damn strong). It doesn't mean something as primitive as "there was sweat, Oden > WB!!!" This is absolutely boneheaded and not what the manga or the scene is about, it is just a malicious weasel trying to dig into somewhere...

Great comment, but honestly there's no need for you to explain it because if someone doesn't get the implications of the recent chapter that Whitebeard is a superior to Oden, then they don't wanna accept it at all.
