When it comes to liking a character in One Piece, do you care if they are portrayed as being perfect or no? And also when liking a character, do you care how strong they are?
Imo character who is perfect doesn't have character development which is a strong point to like certain character.

Non perfect character who overcomes his/her weakness to develop his/herself is much more enjoyable character imo. That shows how he/she comes from zero to hero. That struggle to overcome his/her limit what defines him/her as good character.

In One Piece? Because so far nobody has been portrayed as perfect.
Also what exactly is perfection? To me Luffy is perfect like he is but to some I guess he's boring or annoying.

Regarding their strength, it depends on the character, if I know he's the fighting type then yeah his strenght matters a lot and his behaviour also.
But if it's someone like Usopp or Chopper their strength is irrelevant to what I feel about them. I know they weak af so I just look at their character.

No, when it comes to my characters then I like them to be consistent and objectively well written. I also do not care how strong they are. I am not into empty, vapid, vacuous, hype.

This idea that parts of the fan base dislike characters that “do something wrong/are weak/are not perfect” is usually peddled by folk looking for excuses to pardon their favourite of their objective mediocrity as a character.

Nah, miss me with that "perfect" shit....Let the kirito fans or warever enjoy their perfect OP isekai protagonists.

Characters need quirks, consistency, weaknesses and strenghts, we wouldnt like Luffy and Zoro soo much if they where not idiots, or Sanji if he wasnt a pervert cook, or nami if she wasnt greedy, Ussop if he wasnt a weak liar that always manages to surprise everyone with his luck, etc....

This doesn't exist, and even theoretically in a manga it couldn't because a character is always driven by the author's will, and an author beeing an human can't bring or create perfection be it even in theory and toughts.
And since i dislike illogism, and non realism, no i don't like "perfect characters".

I hate Gary Sues but fortunately there is none in OP. Maybe sometimes there is too much focus on Luffy but Oda has made a good character as the MC. Power is not relevant in liking a character for me even if of course in a shounen all the main characters are power driven, them beating up all tge ladder from the bottom to the top is an essential portion of this genre.

Mary Sues and Gary Stus work really well in shounen because it's a battle manga at it's core. You want the protagonist to be all powerful, all abilities, and all knowing. Kyoukai from Kingdom is beloved even though she has zero faults.

On the other hand, Mary Sues are terrible in any other media that requires logical character growth. Like Rey from Star Wars is commonly criticized for that reason.
