nami didn’t put the gun in Tama’s hand though, tama took it upon herself to pick it up. They left tama, they didn’t invite her to take part in the war. And they’re on a floating island + Ulti & P1 have never stopped chasing them, so when has there been time to get Tama to safety? The best they can do is stay with her and protect her.
I don't know about Nami but Big Meme's mother mode is horrendous, She fucking wiped off countries for food, it's pulled out of Oda's confused butthole.
He has no clue about BM's motivations or subsequent actions in Wano. What does the character want and why do they want it? If he knows what Meme's objective is, then why doesn't he make her struggle by facing feasible obstacles rather than resorting to dogshit narrative development? She's all over the place without one sensibly planned plot event.

There is complaining about Nami hypocrisys but this ain't one of them. Tama went for herself, Nami never wanted Tama to be there. She got sad for being saved for her because she is the one who suppose to save her.
The problem is letting her alone with Usopp to fight Ulti while she could keep running because BM is fighting Ulti is not saving Tama. That is the whole problem. They can defeat Ulti, BM will kill her right after.

How are they using Tama as a soldier? Tama came there of her own volition. The entire island is dangerous, so the best they can do is keep her close to be safe.
They were trying to protect her while utilizing her devil fruit ability. It's not like they were sending her out to the front lines and wishing her the best of luck, lol.

Pirates are free. Meaning Ulti is free to use her dinosaurs claw to cut a little girl face (Tama would get some nice scars if that wasn't One Piece) and Big Mom/Nami are free to feel protective of children and want to kick Ulti ass for that.
More seriously this Is such a silly thread. Is It dumb writing for Luffy to hate Akainu for killing Ace ? Ace chose to become a pirate (outlaw) and Akainu was a marine doing his job after all. But guess what? Humans aren't fucking robots.

Twisting it into Tama "deserving it" Is one of the most infuriating things I've seen. Of course Nami , who also suffered oppression will feel extra protective of that child. (She's already protective of them to begin with). Once again, human behaviour. It's not even about honor.
Last, they never wanted to use Tama as a soldier. In chapter 1004, there a short flashback where Tama explictly said that nobody wanted to take her with them in Wano. That whole plan was made by Tama and was already set in motion as soon as she reached Onigashuma.
Then when Tama met Nami/Usopp, Onigashima started flying 2 chapters after. No way of quitting that island. On top of that they had two high ranked ancient zoan with haki always chasing after them. Unironically, constantly being on the move trying to turn as many enemies as possible into allies while trying to fend off the enemies coming close was one of the best way to protect Tama. (Who is the one Komachiyo obey to and decide where they go by the way, and she didnt want to hide).
While One Piece isn't perfect. There's no "dumb writing" here. Just bored people believing pointing imaginary bad writing will make them look smarter. It doesn't.

You probably mean that Nami was ignorant to think that the beast pirates didn´t attack Tami right?
In case I would not call it bad writing but more a logic fail of Nami and Usopp, they put that child in danger in the moment when they use her ability to get the smile on their side. In that moment they risk the life of a children and are mad that the enemy try to resolve the problems, since Tama was a big danger for the entire beast pirates.
In my opinion Nami and Usopp can be even happy that Tama "just" get slapped, with her position and power, who is sooo important, in our real life she would be killed for sure in a war, sadly that is the case in a bloody war, they not look if you are a women,children, as long as you beeing a big danger for the country(in this case Onigashima/wano) they kill you. In terms of war aspect, Tama done crazy shit against the beast pirates and the slap is nothing for what Tama get if she beast pirates caught that poor girl. We speak about a pirate crew who killing childrens/familys. They literally try to kill Momo, if the Scabbards didn´t save him he would be dead now lol. King still try to kill a 8year children. Nami and Usopp fault are to allow Tama to play a big part in this war, she will be a threat for every beast pirate.
Everything is funny until a 8year old children get killed in a war, very ignorant of Nami and Usopp to use that poor children who is now the target of the beast pirates.

They could tell her to go away with many gifters in the near of one mountain until the war is end.
The chance of Tama dying in the war is higher as when she just hint behind a mountain, yes Onigashima is large but still has large areas where someone can hide himself. Yamato and Shinobu already show perfectly how to protect a 8year old guy.
And they didn´t had a gifter army behind them. Right after running away with Tama, they should leave her and start fight back with Ulti and Pageone. You aren´t try to say me that a grow adult people can´t stop a children to go into a war zone?
