Current Events Egghead is an escape arc. Why do people keep ignoring this?

So far, an admiral has yet to be outright defeated in battle by a pirate. The closest there was to this was Akainu vs Aokiji, which 1) was a long drawn out fight and 2) was a fight between two admirals.

Luffy beating Kizaru would itself would be a shocking event. Him outwitting Saturn and escaping with Vegapunk would be even more shocking.

but there is zero reason for Saturn to fall this arc.

Totally agree but Morgan over exaggerated the news .
Morgans will probably do the same thing in Egghead.

Luffy will escape by plot and Morgans will make it look like Saturn took an L.

Kumas the crux of this arc. Whether the straw hats win or escape it’ll be up to what happens with Kuma Bonney, and likely the ancient robot.

Currently it’s possible the straw hats will separate again:
The ancient robot takes those in the labophase to Elbaf along with Punk Records
The remaining straw hats fight alongside kuma and Bonney and join them after defeating Saturn and Kizaru

If he doesn’t fall then that Kuma flashback will have no meaning .

Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon because he hurt his friend and you are saying that he has no reason to defeat Saturn?

Come on now, have some respect for Bonney and Kuma who are waiting for Nika to whoop Saturn's ass.

There’s one major reason why imo Saturn needs to fall this arc, and it’s the same reason Kizaru will; because this arc is heavily connected to them.

Saturn surviving this and falling later will have significantly less impact than him falling now. The main side characters he’s connected to are here, the main theme he’s connected to is here, and one lead subordinate always falls before the others.

What are you talking about?

The Kuma flashback told the backstory of Kuma and Bonney. It’s not dependent on Saturn to be relevant. Kuma’s backstory has been a mystery since pre skip, a plot relevant one at that as we know he was a revolutionary who became a shichibukai.

Furthermore we can still get the payoff for that in the final war with Kuma/S-Bear/Bonney facing Saturn.

Yet that’s what Oda did for Jack, that’s what he did for Big Mom

this isn’t a valid reason

So Oda spent his time on Kuma's flashback for chapters just to explain Kuma's life, not to foreshadow Nika freeing both Bonney and Kuma from Saturn?

Ok I guess.

The entire flashback is buildup for Nika’s arrival and hope for their freedom . Kuma and his daughter have been put through suffering by Saturn so it makes sense Luffy will be the one to free them from this hell .

Jack had no history connected to the dukes, and Big Mom had no history connected to any enemy in WCI. It’s much more like Vergo in Punk Hazard

Luffy vs Saturn would make a ton of sense…
  1. If Luffy didn’t already agree to an escape plan
  2. If Luffy hadn’t already had a round against Kizaru
  3. If Oda didn’t introduce plot points like the ancient robot specifically to stall Saturn

Also I want to say. Creating theories based off subjective foreshadowing, as opposed to literal statements where the characters express their intentions(like the plan to escape to elbaf), is literally how ZKK started.

Everyone ignored all the countless evidence of Luffy beating Kaido, including statements from Zoro himself, just to place their trust in “foreshadowing” which ultimately went nowhere.

No the kuma flashback doesn’t mean Luffy needs to beat Saturn.

Luffy not fighting Saturn would have made sense if they didn't go out of their way to show that Saturn is directly responsible for everything that Kuma and Bonney went through. This arc is mainly focused on these 2. Saturn's 100% falling this arc.

Whether Saturn gets defeated or not (at this point I think he will) he gotta ditch the crab form. It's ass. Big, stationery and slow.

No amount of hax can make that be competent
