Marika is the Queen. Maliketh is her Bound Shadow, her “brother”
Maliketh is to Marika what Blaidd is to Ranni
Beast Clergyman is the worst video game fight I’ve ever experienced, I hated every second of that piece of shit
Maliketh is cool but also a bit frantic and his punish windows can be too short for slow bonk/ash of war enthusiasts
My big problem with Maliketh is that dying to him means you have to fight the fucking clergyman again, and I literally still dread that boss even to this day even though he’s not hard for me at this point, I don’t enjoy fighting that piece of shit in the slightest
I give Maliketh by himself an S for presentation/aesthetics, an A for lore, a B for the actual fight mechanics, and I give the Beast Clergyman a FFF- in all regards.

@SakazOuki also, near those trees, to the left, theres a ruin. Go to the backside of that ruin. There should be a cave there. clear that cave too

Visually a hideous/uninteresting boss, he’s got some of the ugliest/unspectacular moves in the entire game. I think even bosses that are supposed to be more visually grotesque like the Scadutree Avatar/Putrescent Knight still have much more interesting moves than the Clergyman. The BC is as hideous as Maliketh is amazing lol.
His lore isn’t interesting at all to me, once you learn that
Mechanically I honestly haven’t engaged with him much since my initial play through, I typically just spirit summon or multiplayer summon and get that shit over with because even when I’ve re-attempted him solo, I still hate him lol.

he is Maliketh with a death root addiction, there is nothing else to learn and there is just no depth to that element of his lore.
You would think in theory this could be interesting because the lore sort of hints that he has been forsaken by Marika, but there’s zero depth to this element of Maliketh, and he is far from the only family that Marika forsakes anyway. This element of lore is much more interesting for characters like Morgott and Mohg for me, especially with the theory that Marika’s own father was Midra, a Hornsent, meaning Marika forsook her twin sons for sharing elements of her own blood that she hates. That stuff is super interesting and there’s a lot of depth there but with Maliketh there’s just nothing.
Generally speaking I feel like the DLC just forgot that Bound Shadows were a thing because there are no new revelations there.

i mean he's consuming deathroot cause he messed up and let Ranni and the black knives steal a rune of death from him. He's basically atoning for his sin of not protecting it. He asks for marika's forgiveness. But he doesn't know that marika most likely orchestrated it all
He's pretty great on sl1 lol. every hit is death so you basically have to no hit him.
she is implied to have been super disillusioned with the golden order. and godwyn is basically the number 1 golden order knight.
she has ties to the black knife assassins since she is also a numen
Maliketh was mentioned to have been feared by everyone. Ranni and the assassins couldn't have just sneaked and stole the rune of death. They had to have had insider help.
And Maliketh's remembrance says "Marika's sole need for maliketh was to seal away death, and even then she betrayed him".
Means she was most likely the one who aided the assassins in stealing the death rune.
